$400
Earnest heating and air was hired to go over the system and clean the coils at my sister's house. Houston was the name of the technician who came to do the servicing, the company took payment without completing the job. The system froze back up the next day and when I went to check the intake coils they hadn't been touched. Houston said the issue with the system was a $400 part that we needed to order through him. I went to Earnest's store and informed the receptionist of the problem and still have not gotten a response from the owner. It is July and my sister has children with special needs and their home is unlivable at the moment. Completely unreliable company; the BBB will be contacted. First photo is of uncleaned coils in the intake and the second is the cleaned outside coils. Edit: Earnst decided to call me back within 10 minutes of my post. They sent the same technician out and requested another $224 to finish the servicing, after they arrived. Avoid this company as they are likely scamming their customers.

When they came to replace the valve, they found that the condenser coils had become clogged and just needed to be cleaned, which was done. Coolant was then charged successfully. All this was at no charge since we have a yearly contract with them for service and have had for maybe 20 years. We had them replace our AC 10 years ago and got a free replacement for our furnace as well. They have always been professional and conscientious in their work and courteous in their contacts with us.

Went well. Needed coolant added because of possible leak. No problems

Service person arrived as scheduled checked the unit and replaced the "start capacitor". Total call took about 20 minutes. VERY simple fix. I received a bill for $163. There was a charge for $50 listed as a "diag" charge (diagnostic?) and $113 for the capacitor. Having been in the electronics business for quite sometime the charge for the capacitor seemed extremely high. I checked around and found that I could buy the capacitor full list (not discounted and not wholesale) for about $26. I wrote a letter to Earnest Heat and Air contesting the exorbitant charge for the capacitor. They called me and basically said that is the way they do business.

Service man called in advance, arrived promptly, checked unit and let me know what would probably need done. Performed service and provided as much detail and explanation as I desired to understand the problem.
