They were at my house 20 min after I called. two guys came in and were in the bathroom about 10 min.they both came out, one went to their truck and one explained to me what had happened.he said, after taking the toilet lose it was easy to spot was was wrong. The ring that holds the toilet to the floor had broken.he told me it would an easy fix. and that is about the time the other fellow came in, he hand the parts the fellow I was talking to, and he said it wont take long to fix. they went back in the bathroom and after about 15 min they were done. They did an exelent job, were fast and freindly.
I will use them agian
They came back several days later with a camera and ran it. I was told that they saw that our pipes under the house had collapsed and they would need to tear up the foundation. This was on a Friday and they would start the work on Monday. We were told to move the washer and dryer from the laundry room, and to move the bookshelves in the office area because they would have to tear out those walls to get to the pipes.
Sunday evening my son- in-law was over to help us move the furniture. Because the water was draining directly below the air conditioner he wasn't convinced the air conditioner was not at fault for the leak. He asked if he could look at it closer. He opened the door to the closet the furnace/air conditioner was in and checked the first pipe he came to, the condensation pipe. It was clogged up and water was coming out. He shook his head and told me, "Your plumbers are either extremely incompetent or they're crooks. Let them tell you which." He was right. The problem was so obvious I was embarrassed that neither my husband or I had caught it.
The next morning when the men from Keeton showed up with their jack hammer I took them into the garage where we had a tube running from the condensation pipe draining into a large cooler. He took one look and remarked, “Well, I guess I won’t be working with the jack hammer today. Do you want us to unclog your pipe?” I let him know that my husband was not very happy and no longer wanted to use their services. He thanked me and left.
At this point I called Holt Allied Services, they are a plumbing and air conditioning company. I told them we needed someone to come clean out the condensation pipe to the air conditioner. It took several days for them to come out. They sent a young man who looked at the pipe and told us it had a different type of valve and he would need to go back to the shop. When he came back he told us they were the ones who ran the camera (since Keeton’s camera wasn’t working) and that he couldn’t do anything for the pipe. He said the pipes under the house had collapsed.
I called their office and wanted to talk to the plumber. I was wanting to see the video or pics that had been taken because ever since we had started draining the condensation pipe into the cooler (we emptied the cooler nightly) there had been no water in the garage or anywhere else around the foundation of the house. I found it odd that the washer machine and dish washer, which drained in the same pipes, would have no problem draining, yet the steady drip of the air conditioner was too much for the “collapsed pipe” under the house. They told me Jim, the plumber, would come out the next day. He never showed. I called approximately 3 to 4 times, each time I was told Jim would come to our home. He never showed. After 3 weeks it was obvious they did not want to talk to us.
On Friday, June 24, I called the third plumber, Service Plumbing. I told them we had a clogged condensation pipe. They came out early on Monday, and within 15 minutes had the pipe unclogged. They did a wonderful job. That has been over a month now. I wanted to watch and see if any water started backing up from a “collapsed pipe,” and as of this date everything has been dry.
What could have cost us, and our insurance company, thousands of dollars and left us with a broken-up foundation was fixed within 15 minutes by another plumbing company. I’ve learned my lesson, always get a second (and in this case, a third) opinion when you are advised to have major work done on your home.
