I had hail damage and a few leaks and worked with Michael Kinkopf of Kerrigan Roofing. He provided great documentation that enabled me to get full insurance reimbursement. The job was done promptly and the roof and GAF shingles look great.

It was an absolute nightmare dealing with Kerrigan Roofing. An independent inspection identified significant workmanship issues throughout. Kerrigan fixed many, but not all of the issues before walking off the job without completing it. They also refused to provide the company workmanship warranty letter to either me or the sellers who hired them. I recommend you avoid this company at all costs. Just about any roofer can make a roof look good from the ground, but the devil is in the details if you want it to last. The owner of Kerrigan Roofing talks a good game about the GAF brand roofing systems, but didn’t deliver. The best roofing materials in the world are worthless if they aren’t installed properly per the manufacturer’s instructions. Kerrigan Roofing was hired by the previous owners of our house to do a complete tear off and roofing installation as part of the sale of the home. I met with Kerrigan and the home sellers prior to the roofing job to be sure everyone was on the same page, specifically discussing what was to be done about the wood trim. (Kerrigan stated the trim boards had to come up to put the new roof down and they would work with the seller to submit a supplemental insurance claim to cover the wood trim boards) Due to weather delays, everything wasn’t quite completed by closing (June 2017). We closed on the house, but the roof was ‘held open’ pending an inspection of the roof because of the unfinished items and other issues I could see from the ground including 1) wood trim boards were installed directly on the shingles (should have been a small gap) 2) trim boards were not painted, and 3) ridge cap shingles were lapped the incorrect direction. [CONTENT REDACTED ] There was a delay in having my roofer complete the inspection, so it wasn’t until early September 2017 that I provided the inspection report to Kerrigan Roofing. Kerrigan came out to review the roofing report with me on the roof and the owner openly admitted his crew did a terrible job on the roof and agreed to fix everything, including and specifically the trim boards, with the exception of some areas where the shingles were just short of the eave drip edge. Considering the significant issues with Kerrigan’s workmanship, I decided to personally observe the Kerrigan repair crew to ensure they did the repairs correctly – and I’m REALLY glad I did. It took Kerrigan’s 2 –man repair crew a full 2 and half days of repairs. They started Oct 9 with a supposedly experienced repair crew who I would have expected to know what they were doing, but that was not the case. The shingles were torn off both dormers and reroofed. Had I not been there to intervene, the starter shingles would have been installed incorrectly on the eave and not installed at all on the rakes, only 4 nails per shingle instead of 6, and they were going to start new rows on shingles towards the peak with shingle pieces as small as 6 inches. The crew was unaware of most of the basic installation instructions from GAF that are fundamental for a good install. I referred them to the GAF website for the 3 page instruction manual. When I inquired about coming back for the rest of the repairs, they said they couldn’t come back the next day and that it could be more than a week before they would come back out. When specifically inquiring about the wood trim replacement, I was told the wood thickness was special order and that it would take two weeks to get it in. For the next 3 weeks I would periodically call the Kerrigan Roofing Office and owner to get a time frame for when they would come back out to finish, what the wood trim replacement plan was, and confirmation that they had ordered the wood trim, but kept getting the run around. When I got the office worker, she would refer me to the owner, but the owner would not take my calls or return my messages. The crew from Kerrigan finally came back out on October 26th for a full day. Again, I’m glad I was there to observe and supervise. They repaired the shingles around the bath fan vents, around the vent boots, replaced the ridge cap shingles, ensuring they laid flat, replaced the shingles up one of the rakes that were cut short, and started to reroof the eyebrows, this time using ice guard and starter strips. Had I not been there to correct them, the crew would have again installed the starter strips incorrectly. When I asked about the wood trim replacement, the crew directed me to talk to the owner. Day 3 of the repairs occurred on November 2. The owner called me before the crew arrived to inform me that he would not be installing the correct wood trimboards because he had not been paid for the trim that was already installed and would not be doing any further repairs after today. He said if I had a problem with the trim that I needed to take it up with the home sellers. (Kerrigan must have forgotten about his previous plan for a supplemental insurance claim and follow-on agreement to install the correct trim during our walk around inspection). At this point, Kerrigan Roofing had jerked me around for more than 2 months about replacing the trim before leaving me in a pinch to get it done on my own right before winter. (Note: It’s worth mentioning that I contacted the home seller about Kerrigan’s non-performance, and his insurance company paid out a supplemental insurance claim for the trim work to be done by another company – exactly how Kerrigan originally planned to handle it!) The repairs on Day 3 involved replacing the eye brows this time putting down ice guard and starter strips. (Even after redoing the eyebrows, I subsequently found where they did not caulk the nails for the top row on more than one!) They also replaced shingles up the remaining rakes where the shingles were cut short, this time ensuring proper overhang of the t drip. This also uncovered an area where no starter strips were originally used and more areas where the metal edges were installed only with staples by the original crew. When they went to put down starter strips along the rake, they ran out and were going to cut up dimensional shingles to use until I stopped them and insisted they go get more starter strips and they did. On top of all this hassle, Kerrigan refused to provide a company workmanship warranty letter. After initially stating they would be sending the letter, they changed their mind and said the only warranty paperwork I would be getting was the material warranty from GAF. Additionally, I had the sellers contact Kerrigan for the workmanship warranty, and Kerrigan also refused to provide it to the home sellers. Kerrigan put me in a terrible position where the roof was done so poorly that I was faced with a decision to live with the shoddy work and take my chances on whether it leaked or not, or push for repairs. I pushed for repairs, but the repairs were so extensive that my NEW roof looks like it’s 10 years old from all the repair crews walking all over it. My opinion is that if you want to save yourself a headache and a seriously shoddy roof, avoid Kerrigan and go with another company. If you are brave enough to go with Kerrigan, read up on the GAF installation instructions and watch them like a hawk, or even hire an independent contractor to supervise their work. Trust but verify with these guys!

Consultation and estimate were encouraging, although the price was higher than other estimates. The initial work did not reflect the work outlined in the estimate and was somewhat shoddy. However, to Kerrigan's credit, they responded to our concerns and after some delay, they performed the work adequately.

We had roof damage from a recent wind storm. I called and they came out, surveyed the roof, found more damaged shingle than what we new of as well as a few exposed nails. They took pictures of the areas that needed repaired and quickly got me schedule for completion. They showed up when they were scheduled and got the repairs done in a timely fashion. Crew was polite and respectful.

I chose Kerrigan roofing for several reasons. Of the four estimates I received, Kerrigan's was in the middle. Aaron Kerrigan did my estimate and was professional, knowledgeable and respectful. The anticipated repairs were well explained with him advising what I did and did not need considering my roof would probably need replaced in 5-7 years (recommending repairs and supplies that were inline with that expectation).  The company is GAF certified and it was very nice to get a professional binder with printout of the estimate and other information immediately before he left.

There were delays in start dates for the repairs due to the weather (it also caused an expected one day job to go into two days).
There was a two man work crew that did the repairs.  They were professional, personable and answered any questions I had intelligently.  I don't have many details other than the fact they were all business and focused on doing the job and I didn't notice any slacking.  When they finished, clean up was fantastic.  No garbage left behind.  The final costs were right in line with the estimate, no surprises.  It was a very good experience all around.

They were on time, courteous and friendly. The price was actually the insurance estimate. I would recommend them to friends and family members. My only issue was they wanted me to get me to get the insurance company pay for a new roof. I had an insurance agent come out who told me that the rest of the roof was okay, and I only needed those shingles replaced.

Kerrigan was great. They solved the problem and we no longer have a problem with the water running off the pitch of the roof inbetween the gutter and the brick on our house. They took about an hour to do the work. Jon Keim asked us to keep checking it to be sure this solved the problem. He is very nice to work with.

Jon from Kerrigan returned my call and scheduled an appointment within two hours of my intial contact.  On the day of the appointment, he arrived promptly and, due to the roof still having frost on it, arranged to come back in the early afternoon.  He arrived within the time frame given earlier in the day.  He went into the attic to locate the problem area and then proceeded to go on the roof.  He photographed what he'd found and sent the pictures to my phone for me to see.  Jon then caulked the areas of concern and proceeded to inspect the remainder of the roof for other nail pops, loose shingles, and hail damage. At the end of the visit, he told me he was not charging me a thing as it was part of the inspection.   Jon was prompt, professional, friendly, and efficient.  I will definitely keep this company in mind for my future roofing needs.

They were able to give me an appointment that was close in time because I had limited time at the property, so I was surprised they were able to schedule it so quickly.

It was fabulous! They were very responsive and came on time. They did the work in a relatively short period of time. There were two people that came and they looked for any small places that may need to be sealed or any nail pop-ups. They did some extremely minor touch-ups and gave us a report that detailed the estimated life of the roof. They also took a lot of pictures of the roof that showed what they did and sent me an electronic copy of the report.

They were good enough to tell me that when we chose to have the roof replaced, they gave us an estimate if they were to do it. It was very helpful. They were very pleasant and when they came off the roof, they gave me a full intelligent analysis.

We asked Kerrigan to replace the boots around all the vent pipes on the roof. We could not be home during the repair. Kerrigan asked if it would be OK to leave the estimated payment that they had given us, on the door and they would take care of the repairs. We arrived home to the new repairs and the invoice on the front door. The work was very well done.

This was a useful deal. Darin was very professional.. He arrived promply on time and set about inspecting the roof and performing minor repairs,. He renailed the loose shingle and sealed it with silicon. He pounded in a few loose nails he found on the roof to wall flashing and re-caulked and re-sealed the nail heads. He used silicon to seal around a pipe vent. He discovered that one of our gutters appears clogged and advised us of several options and contractors for cleaning the gutter and prices for the options. The only option he could offer through Kerrigan was to clean all the gutters for $250. (Our gutters have gutter guard installed which entails more labor (removing the guard, cleaning out the gutters, and replacing the gutter guard.) He felt only 1 gutter was clogged and the others were clear. He suggested since we only need one gutter cleaned to use a companay that will clean only what we need done. He recommeneded several companies that can do this for us.
Darin took photos while inspecting the roof so we could see the areas that needed repaired. He e-mailed the photos so I have a digital record.
I was very impressed with this thoroughness and his honesty in offering the best solution to meet our needs even though it was not
provided by his company. The next time I have a roofing need, I will consider Kerrigan first.
