Jacob Dehus Designs LLC

Jacob is awesome.  We met him at his studio - all sort of things going on in there.  Artistic to industrial.  We laid out a couple ideas of what we were thinking/wanting - he took them to the next level. He then bid the job, and we hired him and the results exceeded our expectations in every way.  Very affordable compared to every other concrete designer - some guys wouldn't even give us a bid on such a small job.

The end result is perfect and exactly as I wanted it to look.  Jacob took great care in the design and installation.  He engineered the drain - which was tricky -  so I wouldn't need an expensive custom drain and plumbing job. The color, the exposed aggregate - all beautiful and exactly to my wishes.  It took about 8 weeks from start to finish.  He is very busy because he is very good.

This was a very positive experience.  Jacob came to my house to measure my countertop space, brought me a sample of the finished product, made sure he understood what I was looking for.  About a month later he brought the countertop in and installed it.  He was always prompt, courteous, and paid much attention to detail.  He kept me informed along the way.  His install team was just as professional as he was.  I really appreciate that he is an artist and looks at the project through an artist's eye.  I would definitely commission him again and have already recommended him to friends.

One of my pet peeves is vendors who don't respond to telephone messages or E-mails. I had seen a concrete countertop and loved the idea, so I contacted a couple of companies in town that list countertops as one of their products. No answer back. I found Jacob's website (which is very informative), contacted him, and he responded immediately. Another of my pet peeves is vendors who won't "invest" by giving you ideas or taking the time to work with you, unless you promise them business in advance. Jacob invited us to his studio, came by our house, and we communicated back and forth before we settled on the idea.

I was curious about concrete countertops because I've started to see them more and more in high end restaurants and in the magazines. When I first called Jacob I wasn't sure what the cost would be or whether or not it would even work for us. Immediately, Jacob invited us to his shop so that we could see the work he was doing and get some real ideas regarding costs. The shop was clean and professional. The work was impressive and even a little intimidating. We spoke with Jacob directly and he was able to help us understand the costs, the process, and the time frame. Right there we were able to sketch out what we had wanted and talk about the desired outcome. It didn't take them long to fabricate our little job. It was installed within a week or two. In all, I couldn't be happier. Its always a conversation piece for guests when they come over (and its just a little bathroom vanity top).
