I secured 4 bids for this repair and replacement work. Don's bid was the second cheapest but by fat the most detailed. I went with Don.
2 4x4 cedar posts on the porch had rot. Robert had to take apart the whole side of the porch. Dom and Robert refabricated some wood stops for the screen to match the rest of the porch. The wood was painted and looks better than the rest of the porch.
Then the 24 year old deck had to be serviced. The deck is large and had many split cedar boards. Don and I agreed to replace 20 16 ft. boards with cedar. One 4x4 post had to be removed and replaced. That necessitated removing some boards and spindles. The top rail was rotted in spots. New top rail pieces had to be fabricated. Some rotted spots on 2 posts could be repaired. All the new wood was painted. Then the deck floor and steps were painted.
I was very impressed with Robert's meticulous work. He took his time and all the cuts looked perfect. I was concerned how this repair job could be done. My 24 year old deck looks better than ever now.
