I mean after some negotiations, I was fairly happy with what I was getting for the dollars spent. The sales guy was a little more on the pushy side, but I can appreciate that. Since the installation last week, I have had no follow up call or update on how things went from the company. It's like they just install and move on to their next job. Since this is something I cannot visibly see, I'd appreciate a phone call with what was installed and how the job went. They originally were going to install 4 vents on one side of my house and 8 on the other, and once the installation I notied it WAS NOT 4 and 8 as agreed to. Does this reduce the price? I don't know since I no one has reached out.
The winter will really be the deciding factor on if this was a great move or not, but overall my experience was just fine with this company. Would appreciate a follow up call after I spent $2,000 on how things went.
When they had inadvertently switched off the attic furnace, we called when we realized it. Dustin came out immediately, fixed it.
Got wonderful on time service from USA Insulation. Found that they are one of the few insulation companies that can fully insulate brick homes. The service was outstanding from the start. Had a very nice visit and sales call from their representative Mark in October. He was able to answer all of my questions. I was able to make the install date on Vet. Day when I would home from work.
They arrived on time at 8:30 and began their work at 9 am. They completed the drilling of the outside brick by about 11 am or so and for the next few hours injected the foam insulation into the outside walls. Yes the drilling does make lots of noise in the house. Their installer Rick was able to show me with his portable IR camera the areas of the walls that were being foamed and insulated. It was easy to see that all areas were being fully covered. Although the camera did not respond well in the kitchen areas with cabinetry and a microwave in the way. But I trust that all those areas were fully covered. The camera was not used in the areas of the above ground basement brick that also was insulated. I would guess that it is possible the camera is not sensitive enough to pick up the data in those areas. Even if these basement areas are not fully covered any increase in insulation there is still going to make the home warmer. I was told there would be a slight odor for a few days after the install. The odor for me is hard to notice. If I am away at work all day and I first enter the house yes you can detect a very slight odor, but it is not strong and it has gotten less each day. It smells like a beach ball or raft first out of the package. By 2 pm they had finished the install, had patched all holes with very well matched mortar, cleaned up all their work and left me with a fully insulated home.
I have with this major drop in temps and snow the last several days noticed how much warmer my home is and how much less my heating system is running now that I have a full insulation. I now notice that when I open a kitchen cupboard it is not freezing inside. I can touch the outside walls and they are not ice cold. I am looking forward to much lower heating and then cooling bills. USA did not do the attic area as I had done the attic myself years earlier. I would hire them again and fully recommend them for any insulation project you might be considering. In particular if you have a brick home they are truly the best.
No excuse for not fixing the issue and not even calling back. You even said "God as my witness it is our fault". Pathetic.
Mistakes happen. I understand that. I just wanted them to come finish the job I paid for. The job they charged me NEARLY FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS for! My wife and I still remember the salesman promising if we ever found a cold spot or an area suspected of having no insulation, they'd come back and take care of it.
The below response by USA is somewhat misleading. Mr. Jais makes it sound like he was bending over backwards to help solve my issue, and I for NO REASON AT ALL, I just up and gave him a bad review despite all his courageous efforts. He doesn't mention the weeks of ignoring us and then after nearly a month of no one returning my calls, to not be again put into Dustin's voice mail, i had to resort to a trick, just to get the manager on the phone.
The manager tries to argue the repair, isn't needed, necessary and/or not even their responsibility. How can it be ALL those things sight unseen? Then he claimed his customer records didn't go back "for such a long period" SERIOUSLY? He doesn't save customer paperwork for the life of the guarantee? Six years was still well within the 10 year guarantee.
After i scanned an emailed the guarantee, and answered all his objections, the manager passes me off to Dustin, who is hostile and argumentative. And the whole process starts over with repeating all the managers arguments, the unreturned calls and the only dates they had open to even just look at the wall were months away, and I had no reason to believe they would even show up let alone do anything. How long would they drag this out?
So yeah, I eventually gave up. I didn't want this person in my house. I didn't want two huge holes in my kitchen wall for months on end with no guarantee they wouldn't continue to drag it out even longer. They wore me down. Which I believe was their plan all along .
UPDATE/NOTE TO USA:
Please do not send any more hostile emails accusing me of "bashing" you in this review.
"When reading this review, please take into consideration that we had an appointment set with this customer to look at his issue and address it for him. Please also keep in mind that we had our appointment set before the customer decided to write this review so it was not done as a reaction to this review. When the foreman of our crew called to discuss the issue further to better understand what was going on in order to remedy the problem, the customer decided that it was better to cancel our appointment and write an angry review on Angie’s List than to have us look at and fix his problem. Regarding this customer saying that he has been calling and leaving messages for weeks, he and I discussed it so I could try to get to the bottom of why it may have happened. That is not common for our company and I am currently looking into how he got lost in our process. What he did fail to mention though, was that I called him as soon as I realized we had a customer who was upset. I attempted to have a reasonable conversation with him about his issue and after realizing his anger, I thought it was best to just set the appointment to have our crew out to his house to take care of whatever problem he was having. It is unfortunate that this customer has decided to, instead of let us investigate and address whatever problem he is having, cancel our service and write such an unfavorable review of our company. I think given the fact that before receiving this review, we set up a free service call for a customer whose house we worked on eight years ago shows that we are in fact responsive and we do stand behind our company and work. Please consider these facts when you consider doing business with our company. – Aaron Jais"
Donny came over and inspected the house. Drilled a couple of holes in the walls (making sure I was ok with that) so that he can put a camera in to see what he found. He found no insulation in the walls at all. After the inspection was done, we sat down to discuss the product, the process, how it works, and the price. I was surprised that it was cheaper than what I originally thought... and with the city's energy efficiency rebate and Federal rebate it was going to be even cheaper.
A week later, his crew was at my house (on time) ready to get working. Because the vinyl siding was hard to remove and replace, they recommended that the insulation process be conducted from the inside of the house instead so that the siding wouldn't get damaged. They explained what needed to happen and made sure I was ok with the fact that they had to drill more holes in my walls. It took them most of the day to complete. Any obstacles that they found, they consulted with me first to make the final decision. NO ADDITIONAL COST was ever requested! The workers were so very kind, polite and respectful of me, my family and my belongings! They even made more energy efficient recommendations beyond insulation that I intend (at some point) have done through outside contractors (no references were given).
Since I am a procrastinator, I didn't submit my rebate paperwork to the city the next day as Donny directed. So when I finally got around to doing it (last week) I couldn't figure out how to complete the paperwork. I called Donny and he was nice enough to go through it with me and urged me to submit it as soon as possible. Even asked me to follow up with him if there were any issues.
Because it's only been a month and we've been having such wonderful weather, it's hard to see the full affect the insulation had on my home and wallet. I did notice that my heat did not kick on as much after the insulation was complete. I will say the sound proofing has proved amazing so far! The service they provided was excellent! I would recommend them.
The day of insulation, the two installers were very professional. They started the insulation process. Within less than 4 hours, they were done. They cleaned up after themselves and don't even know they were there.
They walked me through the finished job and get my approval.
The crew is very friendly and professional.
Will definite highly recommend to anyone.
We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this company.
