Old school carpenter. Rich is not afraid to do the kind of jobs that you can't just run to Home Depot and get the part for. Old houses like mine, many times require someone who can custom restore and improvise. In my case he restored a section of ancient crown molding, that had holes, missing pieces and many nicks and gouges. You can't buy a replacement for this, its shape dates to the nineteenth century and is in some places an inch thick. You can pay to have special tool made to create these, but the cost is too prohibitive. Anyway Rich repaired what there was and custom made a replacement for a missing piece. A little filler and some paint and it blends in with the rest of the molding, just fine. After this I asked him out of the blue, if he would look at another problem I was having in another part of the roof where a piece of wood had fallen out leaving a gap under the shingles. He very friendly tackled that job, without hesitation, and it turned out to be another tough job, reguiring custom fabrication and fitting, all this on a very high ladder. So this was a good experience for me. Old houses require a more time consuming and patient craftsmen. So that is why I recommend him.

Great! I would use them again. The job was more intricate than originally thought. They did the extra work without complaint and even kept to the original estimate! Great company for repair jobs to an older structure.

From the estimate to the completion of the work, the project was handled in a professional manner. Initially, the weather played a factor in the starting date but this is Cleveland after all. I have a three story house and of course the worst part of the damage was just under the third floor window but Rich managed to set up his ladder and other tools and do a terrific job. He cleaned the debris off the ground and you would never know that there had been a ladder set up on that spot. He was able to repair all the troubled areas in one day...and it was 90 degrees.

He's very detailed and I was impressed. My threshold has never looked better. He was also very neat, taking his shoes off before he entered and sweeping up after himself. He was responsive and got back to me right away when I called him. The price was inline with the quality of the work but I was not expecting the quality of work to be so high.

Rich came right out, charged a MUCH cheaper price than others gave me, got the job done within 2 weeks of estimate, and it looked great. I was able to resume my priming and painting in the bathroom as I had planned. He repaired MANY areas all over bathroom and was done in a day.

Rich was the third carpenter referred by Angie's List to attempt to repair this railing. After beginning work, the first carpenter quit when he realized that the job was much bigger than he had anticipated. I fired the second carpenter for gross incompetence when he allowed a long section of railing (probably 6 to 8 feet) to fall to the driveway below. Repairing this railing was a daunting task, to say the least. It took Rich much longer to repair the railing than he had estimated, but, nevertheless, he took the time to do the job right; and he stuck to his original estimate of the cost of labor. He fussed over details, making sure everything was executed to perfection; and when it was done, he even painted the railing. Everyone should be so lucky as to hire Rich to do their home repairs!

Rich is a very reliable, honest hard worker. He was very friendly and helped me to decide what was best for my house. He was cheerful and helpful--even when I bought the wrong doors and he had to exchange them. He went shopping with me to pick out a bathtub and fixtures and hardwood for the floors and gave me good advice. He was totally flexible in scheduling, and I felt comfortable going off to my job while he worked in the house. He even walked my dog Jack when I came home late. Rich covered the floors with drop cloths and cleaned up after himself. He hauled the construction debris to the treelawn for me and repaired other small things as he noticed them. I really appreciated his patience and flexibility as I kept adding new projects. I would definitely hire Rich again.

The quality was not close to what had been previously reported in Angie's List. The old color was visible next to all (and I mean all) oak trim (typically around 1/4"). When pointed out, he said it was a reflection from the trim, which was clearly untrue. He would not use tape or other trim tools, only using a large brush to work next to trim. He said that taping would take too long. Although he attempted to go over the trim areas again, he did not fix the problem. Most repairs such as cracks and nail holes, were visible after finish. Used old brushes and rollers, leaving numerous globs. Painted over most drywall nail pops instead of repairing. Used dirty floor tarps, and we will need to have the carpet cleaned. Several drops of paint got onto the carpet and will have to be shaved off. Many paint smears on door handles, light switches and oak trim which I had to clean. The project was stopped before half-way to find another painter. Dismal results for someone with 28-years experience.

My experience was very good. I was given an estimate on the spot. We agreed that the work would begin at the end of the same week and take two days (Friday and Monday). The work began on time and was completed early. I would use him again.

Rich was very prompt in responding and coming to give us a quote. He came when he said he would and finished the project as promised. We were so pleased with his work that we added jobs to our original quote. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone. He cleaned up the job as he went and left no debris for us to clean up.

This past summer, Rich Erceg came to my rescue to get my guest room done in time for an out of town guest. Another painter had cancelled on me & I needed the work done w/in just a few weeks. Rich came for an estimate w/in two days of my calling, gave me a reasonable price in writing at that time (didn't have to wait for a phone call or the mail) & even though he had just booked another job, he made arrangements to accommodate mine, due to my predicament and short time frame. He started a week later on Thurs 7/6. By Sat, the room was done (yes, he worked a full day on a Sat). He is a very hard worker, he did the entire job himself, taking only short breaks. He showed up on time and was extremely clean with what can be a messy job. Of special note was that he removed his shoes before coming in my house without my asking, and he even brought a separate pair of shoes to wear in the dirty area while working! He was very polite and pleasant and did a good job at a reasonable price.
