This has been a nightmare from day 1. Ended up firing this man and now
we are getting threatening voicemails, texts. Wanted to be paid in cash
to avoid taxes. Didn't want to get permits. Quoted $3,500, then $4000, then said it
would be $4400, then raised it again because he said he needed more
concrete, even though it would be a short load.  Ended up paying him $1500 in cash, when we
tried to fire him and pay for work completed (forms only) he said we owed him another
$500. When we balked at this amount (only 2 1/2 days work that now has
to be repaired) he's threatened to put a $2000 lien on the house and say
we haven't paid him a dime. Oh, and did I mention that he removed part
of our chain link fence & the gate without permission? Or the 2 holes he put in the new vinyl siding with his "hand work"?
When we tried to point out all the problems, after consulting another concrete  contractor, he put it down to the guy just wanting to "pick him apart". Really? Who pours concrete 2" thick onto new vinyl siding? Someone who doesn't want to take the time to do it right...that's who.  Hired him through a friend because he was gonna give us a "good deal" to get into the area. Ha! Expensive lesson learned.

The experience was a nightmare from the very beginning. Instead of replacing whole blocks of concrete, he cut two of them in half and intended to only replace half of the blocks! After expressing my dissatisfaction with that he removed one more half but left but left one block cut in half. Halfway through the project he decided that he would not replace the 4th block at all and he didn't. He failed to register with the city and failed to get a permit. When the city put a red "Do not pour" sticker on his machine and forced him to get a permit he wanted me to pay his fees! The cite was inspected by the building department before he was allowed to pour. After it was inspected, he was given the go ahead, the inspector left, Deblasio's crew filled the inspected hole with the left over gravel, more gravel, less concrete, less cost. Very unethical. I called the inspector to come out again and the gravel had to be removed to meet the specifications. He still wanted me to pay the full amount for replacing 2.5 blocks instead of 4! Mr. DeBlasio's lack of professionalism was apparent as he raised his voice and used foul language on more than one occasion. I wouldn't want any one else to find themselves in a similar situation with DeBlasio's Concrete.
