"Thank you for the positive and honest review and most of all the privlage to work in your yard. Jeffery President JLS Services Inc."
I usually get at least three proposals before having any work done if the project is over #1,000. This time, I just called Jeff and he gave me a verbal quyote, and we engaged him. I had used his company twice befre, and each time the work was done on time, with the highest degree of quality and professionalism. They were courteous, prompt, and showed up on time. I have use other tree removal companies in the past, but none come close o JLS for quality and consistant delivery
I had a couple estimates and Jeff said if I hired him, he'd beat my lowest quote, so I gave him the job. At the end, he said tax had to added, and I would up paying more than the other quote. I thought that was BS.
Today, 3/22/2014, I was out back cleaning up the yard. I noticed one of my arborvitae shrubs was pushed over and held there with a stake. It was like that all winter long and I wish I had noticed sooner. Now I'm not sure if the tree will survive. It must have been in their way, so they leaned it over.
Jeff and his crew brought in a crane to dismantle a very large maple tree. They removed the stump and ground the roots. He also ground the surface roots throughout our very large yard and several other things above and beyond what was asked. All the debris was cleaned up and the yard looks better than it did before they came. Jeff and his crew even entertained our large puppy during a break. All the guys were courteous and used the appropriate safety equipment, which I was happy to see. Jeff made several suggestion for resurfacing the yard and improving drainage. We plan to have him return in the fall to do more work. I was very pleased with all of the crew and would highly recommend them.
His price was not the lowest we got but we both felt he was the best for the job and we were right.
Based on my request Jeff gave me another verbal estimate for the work I wanted done in the front yard only. That quote came in just over $1100. The quote was based on removing three trees and pruning and cleaning up several other trees and bushes in my front yard. I left a message for Jeff and communicated in writing that I had a budget of $700 to work with at the time and to do what he could based on the areas I wanted to foucs on within that budget. Once the job was completed I received an invoice from Jeff for $1127.50. I immediately contacted Jeff to discuss the invoice. During that conversation I told him again that my budget was $700 for the job. Along with that he provided me a quote to remove three trees and only two had been removed. After a lot of back and forth I agreed to pay him an additional $200 for the work he did and that was it. I then sent Jeff a check for $900 of which was cashed and I considered the project completed.
A few weeks went by and I then receive yet another invoice from Jeff for an outstanding balance of $227.50. I again contact Jeff and let him know that the budget I gave him was $700 to work with, I ultimately gave him $200 more than that and that I was not paying him any additional funds. Not satisfied with that answer Jeff proceeded to leave a message on my voicemail at home stating that if I didn?t pay the outstanding balance within two weeks that he would take all the debris from my job and put it on my front yard. I proceeded to contact the police and did not respond to his threats.
Several weeks/months go by and I again receive another invoice in the mail from JLS this time at the bottom in all caps and highlighted in yellow indicating that there I have an outstanding balance that is past due and failure to make payment could result in legal action or collection. After receiving that invoice Jeff and my husband traded several voicemail messages but ultimately the issue of an unresolved balance was not put to rest. Fast forward to this week where I receive yet another correspondence regarding this matter but this time from a law office operating as a debt collector. The correspondence indicated that if I don?t respond this matter it will go to collections.
My issue is not with the work that Jeff?s team performed last summer. My issue stems from the lack of customer service, the use of scare tactics and threats, and the absolute unprofessionalism that Jeff demonstrated over the past now 9 months over an amount of money that I do not owe him. In writing and verbally I stated to Jeff what my budget was for the project and to do as much as he could in that budget. I ultimately ended up paying him an additional $200 even though he didn?t perform all the work he quoted on the job. The remaining balance of which Jeff believes he is owed, that again I did not agree to, and the way in which his use of threats and scare tactics is where my problem with this contractor sits.
"Very nice just became a member and was reading reviews.thank you. Jeffery spinelli"
