Disaster…General Manager, Kris McCausland arrived as scheduled and explained immediately upon entering my home that service works perfectly about 95% of time…balance of time works very well but not crystal clear. After performing the service he came down and said he was finished but he couldn’t get it perfectly clear.  I asked him to go upstairs with me to see it which he did.  It was better than when he started but far from being clear or what I was hoping for but I understood it was not 100% guaranteed.  When I went to move the door to feel how it was on the inside of the door I could not move the door to open it.  He said he thought it was a stationary door and wasn’t supposed to move!  It was fully operational when he started.  I told him that the door worked fine before he started working on it and I wanted it back to the way it should be and I went downstairs. After some time I went back to see how he was doing and he said it was better and that he took off the caulking to see if that helped.  I tried to move the door again and it was bound up and totally not functional.  He said he’d try to adjust it and began tugging on it and trying to pull it in or out and tried to flex it.  It was obvious he had no idea how to adjust a shower door and I was afraid he was going to crack my fiberglass shower and I told him to stop.  He asked me what he should do and I told him that I was very upset, not only did I pay $175 which did me absolutely no good but now I’d have to replace the shower door since I can’t even open it!  I told him I did not want to pay for the service and he agreed that he would give me my money back but he would have to contact Angie’s List because he had never refunded anyone’s payment throught Angie’s List.  At that point I was crying and asked him to leave.  Later that day I received an email from him saying to contact Angie’s List for a full refund which I did.  The woman on the phone asked me what happened and I explained and she said she would be happy to help me with the refund.  She said she never heard anything like that before. I asked her if by chance Angie’s List had insurance to cover situations like this and she said they don’t but she would think that HydroShield would.  She explained the refund process and said she would be forwarding the info via email and asked me if I would like to put in a review and she could type it from my verbal review and I said I would do my own once the situation was remedied.  I received the email and went online to fill in the refund request but it would not let me submit it without putting a review into the system first.  I did not feel comfortable reviewing without completing the process to see how HydroShield did overall.  I didn’t think it was fair to give them a terrible review based on what happened without being able to say they remedied the situation which was what I thought they’d do from the way Kris was saying how sorry he was and he would refund my money.  At that point I contacted Kris and asked if his insurance would cover replacing my door and he responded that his insurance company needed a quote to repair it. I contacted the company that installed it and they came out and inspected it and said they could not repair it since parts were not available any longer.  He gave me a quote for a comparable replacement door (same quality, etc). I forwarded that to Kris and didn’t hear back for a few days and contacted him again and he said his insurance company was processing the claim.  He later said the check would be sent shortly which I received.  The check was from HydroShield but on the back of the check it said it was payment in full so I did not cash it awaiting the refund for the $175 service.  I contacted Angie’s List to see where the refund was since it was a couple of weeks and the girl said it would be processed in 7-10 days.  I  was told that I needed to fill out a questionnaire and provide a review on the service but I told the rep (Angie’s List) that I already did that but they couldn’t find anything in the system and said that what I told them I filed was not the correct way because service had been performed.  I explained that the girl I filed with knew all this but said to fill out what she was sending me and I’d get refund in 7-10 days.  I was confused.  Kat finally called me and I went through everything again with her and she found my original info in the system somehow and said she’d help me with the process and would be in contact with HydroShield and me.  The same day or next day I received a message from HydroShield saying the claim was settled and I wasn’t getting my $175 back!  Kat sent an email to me with this form and telling me to fill out and send back and start process again. I am terribly frustrated…still out $175 for a service that I could not use because I can not use my shower AT ALL for over a month now!  My husband is furious and I’ve spent so much time on this and am so upset…this was my first time using Angie’s List for a service, too

"After completing service on shower glass doors, we polish the stainless steel door frames. The result can make the entire door look great. (See reviews) Due to the age of this door and significant neglect: all handles, rollers and tracks were caked with mold. Molded caulk was the only thing holding the top track to the door. After completion of this job, both doors could move. One of the doors, however, was "sticky." I attempted to repair with no success. The customer, taking no responsibility for neglect, demanded that I replace the door. A check for the door was issued and case has been closed."

"In response to the quality grade, this customer's shower glass was over twelve years old and had a small amout of permanent "clouding" damage that could not be polished or cleaned. Otherwise, we restored and sealed this shower glass to a high quality finish. This customer actually commented that we did "an outstanding JOB!""

Our beautiful granite counters really look good with the sealer on them, they feel exceptionally smooth, easy to clean them now. The tile sealer in the bath and laundry rooms was worth the money. The grout will stay looking good, the color is protected and water wear and tear is no longer a concern. The water rolls off the shower doors, so much easier to clean, soap does not stick / scum up.

The next service we are calling Kris for is our toilets. They will be much much easier to clean once they are sealed. We all know if we could make cleaning toilets easier we should. We highly recommend Kris and HydoSheild. You will not find a nicer guy and he is very professional, looked good and was very knowledgeable. If you have granite, tile, or glass shower doors, everyone has toilets, you should call Kris and get the HydoSheild service!

Kris showed up on time, very professional and knowledgeable about the process and he educated me on how to care for my granite in the future. The sealing process was quick and left a fabulous shine on all of my surfaces! Great job.
