My only advice is you make sure you get every little detail in writing, if anything is discussed which isn’t available as a simple check mark on the description of work performed, get it in writing and don’t pay the final bill till you are satisfied. Every time I spoke with my guy I had to remind him of the details of the project. When we finally did it, I couldn’t be available so I had someone show so the contractors could work. When I got home and reviewed the work I called immediately to discuss issues between what was discussed and what was done, as well as a concern I had with the color of the capping. I told him it was probably fortuitous that they hadn’t completed the other 3 windows as I would not have like the color. At first he seemed understanding and even told me he would correct my concerns, he told me he would bring the windows back and leave me a chart to pick a different color for the remaining windows. He returned 2 windows and left me the color chart (in the rain, it was a mess). I sent him a text with the color I chose and told him I was in no rush as I was aware of a project he had mentioned which would take up a lot of his time. I told him to just contact me when he had time. I never heard from him. Then after I gave him a month I sent a text and he totally begged off saying it wasn’t written in the contract and argued with me that I could easily total the bill and see he hadn’t charged me. I said I understood, but we had project expectations which had been discussed, and I paid the bill I was given. (Although I asked for an itemized bill all I got was the original estimate with some figures now added on it.) I looked at the total and thought it was fair. I even tried to cooperate and split the difference with him as I could see the misunderstanding. He refused. There were some other minor things as well, and I have to say I had no problem with the work that was done, but I wouldn’t work with them again.
If you picked something up in a store and it was mispriced, the store would correct it in your favor. They do this to maintain goodwill with the customer. Even if costs them a little. This was essentially the same thing, but with a very different outcome.
I was in need of new windows desperately, so I did what everyone does,I started calling around and getting estimates. I got 5 estimates, 5 times I had to listen to the selling garbage of these companies each with their own gimmick. One company offered a buy one get one deal , but the estimate was so outrageous that it was obvious you were paying for the free window. Another company came in and starting bashing their competitors . It was just so frustrating, I was ready to give up and go through another summer of a really hot upstairs. Then one day I got one of those Golden Clippers in the mail, I started flipping through it and came across Parma Windows. Something told me to call and give it one more try so, I made an appointment with Rob the owner for an estimate. Wow, what a breath of fresh air, this gentleman not only is honest, professional, has no gimmicks but, he also a local small business owner. Being the daughter of a small business owner myself, I think it's so important to support these types of businesses. Rob's price was very fair and he didn't try and sell me things I didn't need. My custom windows were delivered and installed on time as promised. My upstairs bedrooms are now comfortable, the windows are the exact color the association requires them to be (If you have a home owners association you know what a pain those people can be if it's not right) and they look beautiful.. I couldn't be happier! The best part of all this is that the owner Rob was on site while the windows were being installed. So, a subcontracted company no one knows isn't putting in your windows, it's the actual owner and his crew. I can't stress it enough, if you want someone you can trust, no gimmicks, a fair price and amazing high quality windows call Parma Windows, you wont be sorry.
Excellent. They arrived 15 minutes earlier than scheduled. Came in and introduced themselves, very professional. Started right in with doing the job agreed upon. They explained what they were going to do as they moved along. Cleaned up after themselves completely. In one room they had to take down my drapes, sheers and blinds and they put all of them back up as it was originally. Rob and his crew, Steve and Doug, were more than professional. All of my questions they answered and showed me how to open and move the windows for cleaning.
I would recommend them to everyone and I would not hesitate having them do work for me in the future. Very pleased with Parma Windows today.
It was very good experience. The windows are a very good quality, They cleaned up after each installation of the window. Rob and his workers were very professional and personable. I was recommended to Parma Windows from a friend and I would do the same. Parma Windows is not a pushy company, he told me all about the windows and what I would need and the cost and did not pressured into buying then, like another company that I had previously used for doors. Parma Windows is a great company.
The sales visit was no nonsense or pressure and was completed in roughly 40 minutes including the measurement of my 14 double-hung windows. I previously researched other window companies and even called to setup appointments which I eventually cancelled.
The window brand used is Polaris ThermaWeld which has received good reviews as a very capable product.
The installation was scheduled for 8:30 in the morning and the first installer should up early at 8:00 to start the prep work. The window delivery arrived at 8:30 and work started immediately afterwards. The crew was very friendly and courteous and didn't mind me watching over their shoulder to see the process of removal and installation.
I was pleasantly surprised that the total install was completed by around 2:00. I thought for sure the install of 14 large double-hung windows would have taken all day.
I had no issues from start to finish and would use Parma Windows again.
