Residental Designer

We needed architectural drawings for a rehab project. Initial contact, Mr Whittaker was cordial and really seemed to understand our project over the telephone and was easy to convey issues to. Wirt was very efficient in obtaining his measurements. Though a redesign of the 2 story deck was not considered on our end, Wirt's suggestion made very good sense and will add both value and convenience for the building occupants. Wirt's other suggestions toward kitchen layout was also quite helpful. Very easy to work with, professional product (drawings), and timely.

They charged me $500 for designing both the deck and porch. The guy first came out to my house and I told him my ideas. This house is over 200 years old and it?s the only one standing over 300 acres here. So I told him that it was just a caretaker?s cottage. I wanted a porch all the way across the front. You can sit out there in the rain or you can sit out there all year around. I then told him that I wanted a deck on the back also all the way across. He then came up with a beautiful design with flower boxes in the front from the end to the front entry on both sides. He made steps leading to the driveway and steps going to the front walkway. He made them all shallow because I am not getting any younger. I had just hurt my foot and I was on crutches for a while. He then ended up making the deck at the back which is of the same level as the kitchen. You just step right outside the door and then down a couple of steps to open the lower level and the upper level is covered. There are built-in flower boxes in the corner, built-in benches on the lower deck and a built-in table. It?s just very comfortable and everybody just loves it. We have had 3 parties since it was built. We didn?t even have anything at the back. We just had a door that led to the driveway. I had a French door installed in the back when I had the windows replaced. That leads straight to the deck. There is only a bump in the front as well as in the back. So if I ever end up on a wheelchair, then I can go out myself either to the deck or to the porch. So there is no drop down and you don?t have to have somebody with you to get over an entire bump. We knew how hard it would be because my mother-in-law and my mother were on wheelchairs. I am 63 now and I don?t want to be stuck in the house in another 20 years if my daughter doesn?t have to be here. I had never even thought of making a double deck in the back or even covering a part of it. We use it all the time. I have a ceiling fan put up there and two in the front. So you can turn on the ceiling fan in the summer. I have had them install lights so that you can be out there in the evenings. So it?s really nice. He had great ideas for the porch. It looks gorgeous and it looks like it has been there forever. He made it really look like it was a part of the house. I would use their services in the future too.

Great experience. Wirt met with us to get an idea of what we wanted. He came back a week or so later with preliminaries and suggestions on how we can save money for the renovation. A few weeks after that he had the final drawings.

He was absolutely excellent. He included everything I told him in the plans. He was easy to work with, and the plans are excellent. He was reasonably priced, and he even came out to the house so I didn t have to go to him, even when I offered to. He is almost always available, and got back to me quickly whenever I had to leave a message. When he came out with the plans he brought me extra sets because he knew I was getting bids from several builders. I was extremely happy with his work.

I got really personal service from him. I could call whenever I needed something changed, he would take care of it immediately. The turn around was really fast. He took the time to take my input seriously and to put my ideas into the plans.
