Scott Klingensmith, President, and Dan Brill, Project Manager, were both WONDERFUL to work with. They were very thorough in going over everything on the plans from my architect with me and asking me questions to be sure they understood exactly what I wanted - making suggestions if I wasn't sure or if they saw something that needed done. They had done a large job for my sister (in Delaware County) and I knew their work was excellent, so when their estimate was one of the lowest on this job of the numerous builders I contacted, I was thrilled. Then they started dealing with the City of Columbus! I personally went to get the permits, but the city would not let me get them - they said the builder had to come down and get them - a wasted 3 hours of sitting. The City required them to get a license to work in Columbus, even though they have been in business for many years and have an excellent reputation, the majority of their work was in Delaware County, none in the City of Columbus. They were willing to do so and were prepared to take the test - then they were informed it takes 6-8 weeks to get the results back (another delay). Next, the City wanted him to post a $25,000 bond as well! - the total job estimate was only $33,000 and he wasn't making that much profit off the job to be able to cover the bond fee as well so they reluctantly had to decline taking on my job. I would have been so happy to have them as my builder, but thanks to government bureaucracy, now I have to begin at square two all over again - getting bids from contractors. I am making sure everyone I talk to has a Columbus license this time! I really wish I could move my house 6 houses up the street so I was back in the township and out of Columbus!!!!!
