Please use caution when choosing to call Jack L Woods Plumbing Co. They do not clearly disclosure charges, and include additional fees that are not a standard in the industry. While their rating seems decent, company has current open complaints with Ohio attorney general, and BBB. WIth our water heater out, I called them for help. The guy who answered (John) seemed helpful, suggesting they could send a plumber out the same day to determine which part would need ordered. No mention of a charge for diagnosis even though we did discuss expected charges for the fix. I was told $90 per hour and that it could run between 1-2 hours, with no mention of any other fees. Plumber arrived, took 30 minutes to diagnosis and order required parts (company is within 10 miles of property). Couple days later, parts delivered and scheduled, plumber entered the property without any tools, walked on white rug (no shoe covers) and told me that the parts were wrong. Had to call part company to ask, they shared it is the correct parts, the plumber should look at the directions (seriously!?) The plumber (Bill) then decided to go in/out three times to get tools and hose to drain water heater (excessive?). He then told me that he wouldn't need any help, insinuating that i shouldn't watch over his work (seriously again!?) After hooking up the hose to drain, he went and sat in his van for 20-30 minutes without checking on it once (using more time than necessary). He finally mentioned he was finished after about 1.5 hours, to which I had some questions. He gave a large sigh when I asked. Immediately after asking why the flame was so large, he showed some urgency, and was able to remove and reinstall the entire burner assembly in 10 minutes. After paying a lump sum bill, and thinking about the original quote and bill, I realized he had significantly overcharged. After calling to reach the manager (Rex) multiple times, I was told they charged 0.5 hours for the diagnosis visit + drive time (What!?) rounding to 1 hour, and 2.5 hours for the visit where they fixed the water heater as well as that they used $94 per hour charge. The plumber had been on site (maximum) for 2.5 hours between both days with no disclosure of first charge or "drive time" fees. (They are literally 10 miles away). While Rex adjusted the bill for 2 hours on the second day (the job obviously could have been performed in less time) he ignored the fact that drive time and the first visit was not disclosed. Overall, I would suggest going with another provider, they over billed their time, added additional fees that are not a regular component of the industry billing, are unwilling to adjust where necessary, lacked professionalism and seem to have a recent track records of issues given the other complaints.

Everything went better than expected. Rick is very knowledge and personable explaining what he would do to install the water lines and the laundry sink. Most of important of all, he noticed that my sump pump hadn't been working for while as the tub was filled almost to the trim with water. Thank goodness he noticed this and replaced the pump. Otherwise I would have had a flooded basement. All is working great now. I will call them again next time I need a plumber.

After noticing a leak in the bathroom, I called Jack L Woods plumbing first thing at 8 AM and was also my FIRST call based on the number of positive reviews ,years of experience and number of employees they have hoping that they can come fix the leak the day prior to Thanksgiving day. They were phenomenal, being solidly booked that day, they managed to send Tom F. who was closed by and was able to fix the issue and saved the day. Tom F. was very courteous and professional and was not only knowledgeable but explained in details what he is going to do and done. With this great experience and taking care of the issue the same day, I am joining all those who attest that Jack L woods plumbing is going to be our company of choice for all future plumbing ! They always come when I need them, and they have a stable crew. I like that. I would recommend them. I've been using them for 30 years.

He came and tore through all four very quickly, in less than two hours. Worked very fast, which I appreciated given paying an hourly rate. I was very happy with the service and the results.

I know long term they have had a good reputation but clearly something has changed in their company which shows up on some of their more recent reviews on this site and other sites.  There were technical issues with the installation which I understand and do not have a problem with because it is the nature of all work.  What I did not like was the constant calling I had to do when they would not call back or follow through with their work.  The work was professional and we liked the plumber but he was not dependable.  Also, he was not certified by the manufacturer for this particular job so he had to come back about 5 times to resolve it.  I would have preferred they used the person who was certified by the manufacturer. 

They are honest and professional but they need to get back to what they used to be.

He fixed it in a very short time. Less than an hour, they were done.

He did a wonderful job. He even corrected a problem I didn’t know I had. He was on time and was fast and efficient. I will definitely use him again.

Dave was friendly, knowledgeable, quick, thorough and very nice to be overly friendly dog. He completed both jobs in under an hour and gave good advice for when to replace other equipment and what to look for.

Fixed both leaks and checked the other toilet for leaks. John was on time courteous and efficient and would definitely hire again

Although the technician wasn't overly friendly, I was extremely happy with the service. He came out the same morning I called, had the parts I needed already in his truck and had it fixed in no time.

I had a leaky bathtub faucet because the hot water stem was shot. One area plumber took one look at it, said he had no idea, took pictures of it and said somebody would contact us. Still waiting on that call. Tried a second Westerville plumber. Kind of the same deal. Said they don’t make those things any more, parts are rare and suggested for $750 that we replace the whole deal with an all in one hot and cold shower knob. Called Jack Woods. They were busy and could not come for 8 days which wasn’t ideal. Long story short, my man Dave knew exactly the brand and type of part it needed, drove down the street to Roush Hardware to pick one up (yeah it was so rare lol) and inside an hour had it fixed, saving me more than $500 in the process. I’m done with the others. I found my plumber from here on out. Thanks Jack Woods Plumbing. You thoroughly embarrassed the other Westerville “plumbers.”

Excellent, on time, and quality work, reasonable pricing.

The repair was completed, but I was charged for an additional hour of service that was not performed.

I had a corroded shut off valve that was starting to drip. I called columbus water day of appointment to shut off water to the house, then called Jack L. Plumbers to let them know it was off. The plumber came out and changed the valve fairly quickly, cleaned up any mess, and was professional to deal with. The cost was very good considering another company told me they would do it for twice that, which didn’t sound right for a normal service call. Jack L was scheduling two weeks out, so if you need something done soon, call in to get on the calendar.

Great. He knew exact what was causing the shower head to drip

I called Jack L Woods Plumbing Company on 3/25/2017 about replacing our leaking gas water heater. They set up a job appointment for 3/28/2017. The two expert technicians arrived on time, removed the old gas water heater and a fair amount of old plumbing, and then furnished and installed a Bradford White 40-gallon gas Power Vent water heater (including setting up the required Columbus City permit, with the successful city inspection being done later on 4/12/2017). This installation included installing a water heater safety pan with drain, and replacing the existing water heater expansion tank. These two did a solid, efficient, and complete job, and were very personable and professional. They and this company were very honest and have excellent customer service. We would definitely use Jack L Woods Plumbing Company again.

I called Jack L Woods Plumbing Company at 5:22 PM on 8/2/2017 about repairing our three toilets, which were barely working. One of their expert technicians, Tim Reed, called us back at 6:25 PM, and was able to come to our house, that same night, and did an outstanding, efficient, and complete job in repairing all three of our toilets (between 7:00 PM and 8:30 PM). His work included installing a Pro 45 Ballcock on each toilet. (They have all worked great ever since.) Tim Reed and this company were very honest, professional, and have excellent customer service. We have used this company for many years for all of our plumbing needs, and would most definitely use Jack L Woods Plumbing Company again.

Jack Woods Co was the ONLY company to give me a quote over the phone. And that quote was very acceptable and accurate. The others wanted to come to the house before giving me any idea of the cost.

Did not compete work as anticipated. Had to call back twice to correct their work. The last time we had to call another company because a pipe burst, flooding the basement and Jack Woods couldn't come for 10 days. A pipe burst near the outside spigot that had frozen over the winter. They said their Frost Freeze spigot would only fail if it was install incorrectly or customer left garden hose on over the winter. We told them we removed the hose before winter but they refused to take responsibility for the failure of the pipe. T hey kept insisting it failed because we left the hose connected. We have use Jack Woods for years but will not use them again after the way we were treated.
