 + -1 moreMy online banking statement showed that it had been deposited in my account. I then immediately called my bank & inquired as to whether the check funds could be retrieved by Shirley's bank. I was told that no that it had definitely cleared. Ironically, that very day the bank was mailing me a letter saying that it hadn't cleared. I had missed my opportunity to send the check again & to receive my money. The bank letter didn't arrive until today (6/29). I immediately left multiple messages for both Gary & Shirley asking for my money in the form of a cashier's check. I left messages for 2 hours straight until they finally called me back. Gary claimed that he would be sending a check tomorrow, Sat morning & would be calling to give us a tracking #. Once again he gave us the usual sob stories, who died, who was sick, & who was in a car accident. I have heard these excuses before. I explained that all families have their trouble, but that doesn't excuse you from responsibilities.
Description of Work: We received an estimate in mid March from Gary to complete a paving project on our driveway & sidewalk. We paid a $2275 deposit. We were promised that Gary would complete the work the last wk in March. After weekly & then daily excuses as to why he had not yet completed the work, we finally had him sign a contract stating that if he didn't complete the work by 6/8, he would fully refund our deposit. 6/8 has come & gone. It is now 11 days later & we have received multiple excuses for why the money has not yet been sent. Both Shirley & Gary have taken weeks to return phone calls, if they do at all. The experience has been miserable & I would recommend NOT USING THEIR SERVICES. If you can help us retrieve our $2275 deposit, we would greatly appreciate it. On 6/21, we received a personal check from Shirley Grooms for $2250. We immediately cashed it. On 6/26, Shirley called to say that it might bounce. If it does, she said go ahead & put it through again. I checked on on-line with my act.
