I hired Mr. Michael Cochran, the owner of TC Builders for a renovation project in the bathroom of my home. I was told by Mr. Cochran the project was in good hands and would be properly handled, unfortunately that was not the case. Mr. Cochran failed to properly remove all of the damaged/molded/broken wood behind the walls of my shower and tub area that was caused by a leak. Instead of properly removing the damaged/molded/broken wood he covered it and continued to tile over the area against my concerns. I was told the damaged floor was "easier to brace from the bottom" and he placed a plywood cutout from the underneath in the ceiling of my laundry room, underneath the tub area enclosing the rotted wood. There was a dry rotted and severely damaged area on the floor by the toilet and tub that had completely broken through and instead of properly taking care of this area by replacing the wood Mr. Cochran filled it with "cement putty" and placed sub flooring over top of it. I was told by Mr. Cochran that if I wanted the damaged areas of wood to be replaced that "the cost of labor would go up significantly" even though I was initially told that all damaged wood would be properly replaced/repaired. The bathroom has a vinyl surround going around the walls that was supposed to be removed before the tile was placed but instead he tiled over the vinyl area instead of properly removing it. This vinyl surround also had large holes in the walls from where Mr. Cochran removed existing soap holders. Mr Cochran planed to tile over these holes instead of properly patching them. While applying the tile to the shower walls Mr. Cochran failed to apply the tile design that I requested. He went with a "better and cleaner design" that "was easier to work with" and completely ignored my request. Also while applying the tile to the shower area he failed to leave the spacers between the tiles, causing them to fall and droop down the wall and reluctantly "fixed" the areas but you are still able to tell the difference. Mr. Cochran was supposed to install a bathroom vanity. After finding out that the vanity we chose would require him to tile the floor underneath he told us yet again that the labor price would go up do to the extra work. The floor tile and vanity installation were both included in the work agreement with no stipulations that tile was not going to be underneath the vanity so I couldn't understand the price change. Last but not least while installing the floor Mr. Cochran laid 2 different colored tiles on my floor even though he admitted noticing the difference in color. I was told that "it was no big deal, the vanity would cover the majority of the color difference and a bath rug could be thrown down". This is not how you do business with anyone! I feel that Mr. Cochran knowingly cut corners and did a awful job on the work in my bathroom. I was unable to communicate with him without him becoming erratic and insisting that "if I wanted it done any differently than how he saw fit it would cost much more money". I would NOT recommend this contractor to anyone! I have filed this same complaint with the BBB.

I'm very pleased with the work. They made a very nice wooden base for the mailbox. They completely cleaned up after themselves. And I have a new mailbox.
Description of Work: A car hit my mailbox by the side of the road. AND they didn't leave a message saying who the were or saying they'd pay the damages. i called 9 contractors from Angie's List (3) and the yellow pages (6). Now this was on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and on Friday after Thanksgiving Mike called. We discussed what I needed and wanted. He came out on Monday, looked at the situation and gave me an estimate. Mike was still the only person to call me back. On Tuesday he came out and put up a very nice base for the mail box. On Tuesday a second handyman called and I told him the job was almost done (they were waiting for the cement to set. Wednesday he came out and finished the job. I'm very pleased with my new mail box.
