West Chester Acupuncture and Chiropractic I don’t usually take the time to write reviews but in this case I couldn’t help but convey to others my continuing wonderful experience at West Chester Acupuncture & Chiropractic.  Not only am I into holistic medicine, research, natural care, and organic foods but am extremely particular who I go to.       I have many issues, but the most severe being LOW BACK ISSUES…when my back goes out I am hardly able to move, get out of my car or anything else but at these desperate times Dr.Hilbert/Young’s treatments have been the only thing that got me thru!  I also received help with PAIN and ROM in my NECK, FROZEN SHOULDER and HIP PAIN.  My family has had absolutely amazing results with many issues including RIBS that go out, LOW BACK PAIN and SPORTS INJURIES. Dr. Julie Hilbert:  Careful and gentle but highly effective treatments, with an intense concern for her patients, Dr. Hilbert really takes her time listening to all my issues, paying great attention to detail, getting to know problems in my entire body and at the same time is extremely professional.  She is an excellent listener, one of those people you feel you can tell anything to, and always has great suggestions for any issues, including not only structural but hormonal and emotional.  I always leave her office stress free with a new spring in my step. Dr. Burt Young:  I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Young as well, his adjustments are phenomenal, makes you feel brand new, offers great stretching exercises and so good for athletes, golfers and weekend warriors.  He somehow finds all the knots and undoes them and can also add all the great results of cranial acupuncture! ---Dr. Hilbert and Dr. Young operate their practice with unmatched skills but also with heart.  They are both sensational! Massage Therapy:  I mostly have seen Jeff Sturgill…his style of therapy is unique and your body just knows you’ve just had one of the best massages ever!. Cupping:  I absolutely LOVE cupping…it erases pain and speeds up my recovery time.  You can feel immediately the relief it gives tight muscles. Acupuncture:  Dr. Hilbert immediately puts me at ease and for anyone looking to try acupuncture for the first time, IT WILL HELP YOU!  Yes, needles are scary, but you actually don’t feel much at all when the needles are inserted (needles are really really thin, not like usual needles).  I usually fall asleep.       Almost like a miracle, I’m able to move normally again…pain free now  and am overjoyed as all of these treatments, unlike traditional drugs or surgery are virtually risk free, which is my overwhelming goal and are only GOOD FOR YOU, treating the causes where traditional medicine so many times use harmful drugs and surgery.  A healthy body makes all the difference in the world!      You can tell everyone there just really cares about the health and general wellbeing of every person who walks thru the doors.   I cannot say enough great things about this place except Don’t Miss Out!        Blessings, Nancy Reed

Excellent service. Dr. Julie Hilbert analyzed the energy flow through the various meridian and provided a detailed explanation of the various aspects of acupuncture and the process . She used a device with monitor and that graphs ithe energy levels across the various meridians.  She did a excellent job and seems to be very knowledgable. Today is my second day after the acupuncture and I am  feeling great. The pain has reduced substantially. Overall a great experience for me.

I went specifically for acupuncture treatement but also was adjusted as well.

I have received chiropractic adjustments, massage therapy, as well as acupuncture. Dr. Julie Hilbert has taken very good care of me and has help me to minimize my discomfort. (I have been a challenge due to all my chronic pain issues!). Dr. Hilbert is very calming, listens well and offers great self help tips. I had no prior knowledge of the benefits of acupuncture for pain relief but was willing to try it with Dr. Hilbert's encouragement.  This technique works!  It has help minimize my pain as well as helped me with my coping skills to deal with pain.  I encourage anyone to explore this avenue for pain relief.
The office staff are caring,friendly and helpful. The office is tastefully decorated and impeccably clean!

Dr. Young is very professional. He found the problem in X-ray and physical exam. Each visit is a pleasure. I went to see him for 6 times in 3 weeks and the major pain is almost gone. I have not met my deductible yet so I pay $25 per visit and I use my HSA card.

First visit started with good unrushed discussion on my history and desire to continue to play sports at 50.  Finished with back and neck adjustment. Expect to take several visits to loosen my neck completely.
They are relocating, interested in seeing the new offices.

She was very good! My wife's back and shoulder were hurting and acupuncture really helped with that. One of the things that really blew my mind though is that my wife was lactose intolerant and the acupuncture CURED that. My wife mentioned that she was lactose intolerant and the doctor said she could fix that. With one treatment, 4 needles, and 20 minutes later she can now drink milk and eat ice cream without a belly ache!

They were really good.  It was very easy to schedule the appointment.  They kept me comfortable.  They do offer some extended hours and Saturday hours.

I have been going to Chiropractors regularly since 1980 so, have a good feel for the doctor's ability to really help or not.  For this back injury, I have visited 5 times within a 16 day period.  I have received little improvement in pain level during this time.  Here are the problems I have: 

Dr. Young is not a good communicator (at least with me).  I tell him what I am experiencing and what I believe is the problem and I don't really receive much of a response.  He seems to be doing the same type of adjustment each time, whether it is working or not.  Logically, I would assume, based on my feedback, he would refine the adjustments (adding, subtracting, or trying something more effective).  The last 3 visits, I have felt worse after the adjustment.  Since I can't get the care I need, I am going to find another Chiropractor.

I feel like a piece of meat on an assembly line.  Although they are good about keeping appointment times (minimal waits), I am constantly being rushed to get on the Electro-Stem and adjustment tables.  I don't even have time to get my things back in my pockets, put my shoes and belt back on before being rushed out of the room.  I end up having to basically get redressed back in the waiting room.  I also don't get my questions answered to my satisfaction.

The Electro-Stem is a bad experience for me.  The table is uncomfortable for me, the tables are located in a noisy part of the office (loud footsteps and loud patients walking by, making it additionally difficult to relax), and the Electro-Stem pad gel is so cold it causes me to violently jerk when it contacts my skin.  I have mentioned this problem to Marlow and Dr. Young, and even located a warmer they could use but, no one seems interested.

And finally, accessing the parking lot is difficult.  You have to cross a railroad track that violently jars your back (no matter how slow you go) and there is not enough parking space.  Of the space that is available, it is laid out with the assumption you are driving a compact car (trying to park a full sized pickup truck can be tedious).

I'm currently back in alignment and working on gaining strength back in my leg. Thank you Dr. Hilbert!

They are casual, they spend more one on one time with the client, they don't try to get you in and out of there. It's very low key but my doctor, Dr. Katie, she's very knowledgeable and pretty easy to get along with.

I have seen several of the different massage therapists and they are all good.  The chiropractic adjustment is normally scheduled for immediately after the massage therapy so my body is more relaxed and the treatment does more good.  The massage therapist will costumize the treatment to meet my specific needs.

Great experience.  Very thorough beginning with the exam and through the treatments.  Also had a wonderful massage there!

Terrible. From my first visit, it was sell, sell, sell me on other items; vitamins, shoe inserts, pillows. I don't feel like she listened to my concerns. This was my first time to a chiropractor ever & I went to her because my family doctor recommended her. I went to her three times a week for four weeks & that entire month, the other items kept being pushed at me. I was not comfortable with the way I was adjusted. I felt like a rag doll being squished. (I have gone to another chiropractor since & do not feel like this). During the fourth week, I started experiencing knee pain (previously just had neck & back pain) & I was told I needed customized shoe inserts, which they sold! The set up of the office was terrible, too!There were four tables with curtains separating them where they did the electric stimulation (I can't remember exactly what it's called); the tables were so close that while people were entering & exiting the other tables, I would get bumped!
