General Remodeling
I had a pipe burst in my home in October 2013 and needed a company to perform the dryout and eventual restoration work. After having another company perform the initial dryout, I chose MPC Construction to perform the restoration based on assurances that new carpet could be installed in my basement as a result of the damages. What I failed to do was check Angie's List or the BBB before signing the agreement with MPC. The lack of any feedback on Angie's List, accompanied by the "F" rating on the BBB would have prevented me from choosing this provider. Lesson learned.
11/19/13: MPC previously assessed the dryout done by the previous contractor as insufficient, so they brought in additional dehumidifiers and cut out additional areas of the garage ceiling that was damaged, as well as cutting through drywall around the damaged pipe and in areas of my garage and utility room that were damaged.
12/3/13: After several attempts to reach Mike Corlew, the dehumidifiers were picked up and the rest of the demolition was completed (the scope of the initial demolition was miscommunicated to the worker who performed it). At this point, the plumbing in my study was exposed and I began the process of scheduling my own plumber to complete the pipe replacement, as the insurance company would not pay for the pipe itself or the labor to replace it. The worker informed me that MPC wanted to bid on the plumbing and that Mike Corlew would call me. This never occurred.
Once the plumbing repairs were completed, I then tried to schedule the restoration work with MPC. My voice mail messages and email went ignored, and when I finally reached Mike by phone to make an appointment, he didn't show up and didn't call or email with an explanation. Over the next two weeks, I left several voice mail messages and sent several emails, all of them ignored (I later learned that during this time, MPC invoiced the insurance company without ever showing me a written estimate of the repairs).
After deciding that I no longer wished to do business with MPC, I left a voice mail message with Mike and at the main office informing them of this. Both of these were ignored. Eventually I reached Mike Corlew by phone and set an appointment to terminate the agreement and give him the check from the insurance company for the work that had been completed. Two hours late, Mike showed up to collect the check and sign a termination agreement that I had to write myself.
If you value your time, your money, or your property, you will not do business with this company.
