Horrible. Below is the first invoice. "Date: Dec 17, 2019 Reason for Call: 325-201-8767 Afternoon Call B4 Service Oil furnace & heat pump. Hes getting ready to sell property and wants to be sure in good working order Assigned To: Jason Marshall Status: paid HEAT PUMP CLEAN & CHECK $90.00 Approved 020297 OIL BURNER NOZZLE $62.14 Approved 020301 NOZZLE LINE FILTER $83.65 Approved 081233 CONTACTOR * ADDITIONAL $55.92 Approved 079075 HONEYWELL THERMOSTAT $235.77 Subtotal $527.48 Tax $15.02 Total $542.50" And then the second invoice. "Call B4 Heat pump with oil back up. Furnace not coming on Assigned To: Jason Marshall Status: completed Diagnostic Fee $90.00 Approved 020333 IGNITION TRANSFORMER $199.66 Approved 020321 HONEYWELL PRIMARY CONTROL $391.41 Subtotal $681.07 $20 WEB SITE DISCOUNT -$20.00 Tax $29.83 Total $690.90" So they are into us for $1,233.40 at this time. They choose to spend $1,200.40 repairing a unit that is a 10 SEER unit that is 20 years old instead of replacing the unit. My uncle lives in TX and wanted the unit ready to sell. It still doesn't even work. After spending $1,233.40 they didn't even choose to insulate the refrigerant line in between the house and heat pump. I'm a Green Beret and I know that line is supposed to be insulted. For $1,588 I can purchase a 2.5 ton 13 SEER unit with multiple speed fan and could have it installed all day long for less than $1,000. And then when I call them and ask then to come take a look and get it working (one year warranty they SAY they have), they tell me it's going to be a $90 service call and any parts and labor cost. Then I decided to write this review and plan on plastering it on every street corner for a 20 mile radius around their business and everywhere else I can online. Look at some of the negative reviews they have and ask yourself if you would want to be left in that situation. I am NOT one of those "unable to satisfy" customers. Mostly I do everything myself. But when my aunt and uncle in a time of weakness and heartache (due to their fathers passing) ask this business to make sure something is working correctly because they have more important things happening in their lives, it's said that they eventually had to pass this task off to me. I bet this company saw $$$$ when they realized the guy calling was from TX. How many times can we go service this 20 year old system and keep cashing in. I'm really excellent at what I do as well, and it's protecting people from dishonorable men and women that do not know how to treat others the way they want to be treated.

"Thank you for your military service. We appreciate you for taking the time to share your experience at the house formerly owned by your uncle, [Member Name Removed] We take your concerns seriously and strive to provide excellent service. I spoke with [Member Name Removed] on 7/9/20, after our conversation earlier that day. He advised that he was very satisfied with our service and the heat pump and oil furnace worked successfully. Regarding the invoices: On 12/17/19, we checked the heat pump in heat mode and found the unit functioning in normal operation at that time, but the oil furnace needed repairs. As shown on the invoices, we replaced the oil burner nozzle, nozzle line filter, contactor for the oil furnace and a Honeywell thermostat. On 1/20/20, [Member Name Removed] advised that the oil furnace was not coming on. We returned and replaced the ignition transformer and primary control. Upon these repairs, the oil furnace was running in normal operation. We did not perform any repairs on the heat pump during either of these services. On 7/8/20, you notified us that the heat pump was frozen over in cooling mode. We advised to turn the unit off and run the fan only. We scheduled a service for 7/10/20. This was a new issue with the heat pump. The expectation that there would be no cost for the repair is unfounded. This was a new issue while the heat pump was in cooling mode. This is an older system and will need repairs to maintain proper functioning. We did not discuss replacement for the heat pump with your uncle, as it was working in normal operation when it was serviced 8 months ago. Again, as the invoices show, we repaired the oil furnace during the prior visits, not the heat pump. We value all of our customers and, as stated above, [Member Name Removed] the owner of the home at the time of service was extremely satisfied with our performance and the performance of the equipment we serviced. Thank you for your feedback. Sincerely, John Boyd"

This was the first time we tried to fire up this system, and he did an inspection to make sure that everything would work properly.  The previous owner used the garage for painting cars, and some paint had clogged some of the tubes that the gas goes through. He missed that the first time, but came back and fixed it free of charge.

Our older heat pump wasn't pumping out cold air and I wanted to use someone locally.  I had heard of Boyd's Heating and Air and decided to give them a try.  They came out that day, and they said because it was an older unit, it probably just needed more coolant.  With a short call, they managed to give us a $360 bill for the coolant which lasted us a matter of weeks.  I called repeatedly and left messages saying that we were back with no air conditioning.  No return calls.  Evidentally, they just like taking the easy road and not following up.  Looking for a leak would be too much to ask for.  Would NOT recommend them to anyone.  Very disappointed.
Response from John Boyd Heating & Cooling
"I stated on your invoice that there was a leak and that the system needed to be leak checked and that you enclosed the heat pump out side making it impossible to access. I called you back but you never returned my call. I also advised you 12 years ago when room addition was done that system needed to be serviced every year. We sent you post cards twice a year to recommend service. Sorry you had trouble but your system needs to be serviced."

The service call exceeded our expectations. Our 16 year old Carrier Air Conditioning system was inspected, a blown capacitor was replaced, freon added, and leak identified. Very satisfied. There was no sales pressure whatsoever to purchase a new a/c. I did ask several questions and they were all answered to my satisfaction. Appeared very honest.
