Sherlock did make attempts to correct the problems from their original installation. It has just been over 4 years since installation and the driveway is cracked in multiple locations and the seams where they attempted to repair their installation are now coming apart. Athough they contacted me earlier this year to ask me to update my Angie's list review, and indicate that they would be out to seal the driveway, there was no follow through.

Within three days pot holes began to form. We called dozens of times with no response. Finally after a couple of months, the first pot holes were filled. Over the winter of 2016/2017 (which was mild) many more holes formed. It took several months to get a response from the owner and by 9/2017 more holes were filled. In one year and two months, 35 holes filled and 16 more have formed. We were offered an extended warranty (verbal) that was never put in writing. Owner is again not responding. The last batch of "filled holes" are not flush with the drive and it is a bumpy mess. I have no confidence that this drive will hold together over the winter. BEWARE and do not hire this company! We paid more than $22,000.00!!! Now that the weather has thawed, as expected the entire driveway is riddled with potholes! I just counted two dozen more. William Wilson and Sherlock Asphalt is nothing more than a dishonest con artist. BEWARE Of this company!!!!! Law suit is next!

The project went very well. William Wilson, Sherlock's owner, was courteous and conscientious. He and his crew worked fast and were meticulous in preparing the driveway and garage apron, then in laying down the asphalt. They cheerfully complied with my requests on a few details. Now, instead of the messy crushed stone that we kept tracking into the porch and house, we have a solid, smooth driveway. I am very pleased.

Was prompt and quick. Left the job unfinished on one side. We saw several problems within a week of installation including seams pitting asphalt falling away on one side. Weeds were coming through the drive and the blacktop was discoloring. We have contacted the company several times each time they said they would come fix the problem and they have not. I will update this review when resolved. Update 9/22/14 complaint not resolved. Also filed with BBB. Response was family hardship and contractor has still not contacted us to resolve the problems and they are getting worse.


Update: The company has responded to my correspondence and indicated that the asphalt material was bad. They (Mr. Williams) plans on having his team remove the old asphalt and repaving. He indicated this will be done in one day and will be completed today 10/30/14 or tomorrow 10/31/14. I will update again when complete.

Update. Not resolved due to weather. Assured in writing drive problems will be resolved by removing and repaying in spring 2015.

The little round thing that fall off the sugar gum tree got bedded into the asphalt and made little round rings so that means that the asphalt was really soft.  We called them but they said they will fix it if we will pay them another $100.

"The driveway had 2 bad areas that were patched. Customer was told that they needed a new driveway prior to patching an estimate was given for that. Husband and wife both understood what was needed and explained to me they may do that in the future. Instead they wanted to know how much it would cost to patch I gave them estimate for that and they agreed to have me complete patches knowing that the driveway needed much more than 2 patches. I can not be expected to pave the entire driveway to resolve a standing water problem created by another contractor from years ago. I was hired to patch 2 areas that had large holes contained in them and that is what I did."

John Sherlock -- the owner showed up to give estimate and explain exactly what he was going to do. I used another company at a previous home and they were terrible, but I learned a lot and asked John a lot of questions and he had all the right answers.
we set a date to do the work and they showed up at 8 am and did a super job. after 2 years I couldn't be happier with the quality of their work.

When they replaced my driveway there was a depression in the driveway that was collecting water. The owner stated that was normal.  When they were removing the old driveway they just threw the pieces on my flowers with litttle regard for my landscaping.  He never provided my with a copy of my invoice.  The owner is unresponsive, I had to call him multiple times to get ahold of him.

Contract Sherlocks to pave the areas as stated above. The day they were done I brought several areas of concern to his attention like the roller lines in the walk way area, huge scrapes in from of my new garage door, the obvious sunken areas near my home and the open coarseness of the driveway materials. I have three people who witnessed this encounter. He promised to come back and fix them. Two weeks passed and no call and no return. I called and scheduled a time and date again no show and no call. I got nastier, we set a date, he showed and patched an area and it is so obvious it looks like a toupee with a chin strap. Mr. Sherlock also told me the stones in from of my garage had to be removed and I showed him where to take the stone. He said they had to be removed and replaced with the proper compacting limestone. He didn't remove the stone after he said they had to be and he didn't put down the limestone and pack it down. A very dishonest and poor quality job by Sherlock's.

"This customer has no legitimate complaint a review was completed by the bbb and then closed. He then proceeded to call the attorney generals office in an attempt to cause or company problems that was also canceled and closed. This is a bogus complaint"
