I needed a 19-feet section of gutter replaced due to storm damage. Total Exterior replaced the gutter however the color of the replacement did not match the color of the original damaged gutter. They said that was the best match they could make, and they would paint it if I wanted it a different color. I did not want anything painted. So I went to the gutter supply store to try to match the gutter color myself. I picked what I thought was the correct color, the store clerk agreed with me, and I then told Total Exterior. When Total Exterior came with the new replacement gutter it was the same color as the first one they put up. I take responsibility for this mistake. I do not expect Total Exterior to come out with a third gutter. However, I am still disappointed with Total Exterior for the following reasons: 1) Why does an inexperienced customer have to go himself to try to match colors of a gutter? 2) Why did not Total Exterior tell me the color I picked at the gutter store was the exact same color they had just put on? They had to know. 3) I went back to the gutter supply store to try to find out how I made this mistake. I found that the first time there I was given a sample pack of just the colors they have in stock. I was then given their complete sample pack of colors which I took home and compared to my original gutter in natural sunlight. I found the exact match pretty quickly. When returning the color samples to the gutter store I was told that my color chosen was not in stock. They could order it for me but there was an extra charge for the order plus I needed a minimum of 75 feet in length. The cost would be a lot greater than just the 19 feet of gutter I needed. Was this why Total Exterior did not want to order this color? However, my insurance company would have paid the extra amount of money to restore the damage to its original condition. Just send them the proof in the bill. I believe Total Exterior knew all this but just did not want to go through the hassle of trying to get more money from the insurance company. They wanted to get this job over and done with. Then, since I myself had requested the color for my gutter and even though they knew it was the same wrong color, the problem was solved. It was my mistake. I just cannot believe a company that does this every day cannot match a color exactly the first time. I was unlucky to get a store clerk that gave me a color packet of colors that were just **in stock**, I know now to ask for a complete total color packet. I know now to compare colors in natural sunlight and not in store lighting. A lot of good all that does me now. The rest of the storm damage was repaired very well by good workers. All I wanted from the start was to have my storm damage repaired correctly, and I did not mind paying my $500 insurance deductible. Unfortunately, that did not happen. But as I said, I take some of the blame too. Incidentally this is the first Home Advisor company that I have not given a 5-star rating.

Nov. roof inspection and working with insurance adjuster has gone very well. Entire job will have to wait until weather cooperates. ||| Roof done on a single Dec. day in sunny low 30°F. Crew was very professional and cleaned up as thoroughly as snow allowed. Gutters were replaced a week later in temps that never got warmer than 10°F. Two men were troopers in that cold. Returned in late Jan. to address a few leaks. Lack of snow allowed them to complete the clean-up. Roof looks great with "architectural shingles" and new gutters with nearly invisible leaf guards. I would definitely recommend Total Exterior Systems, inc.
