We needed our UA roof replaced in 2014. After getting several quotes, Classic was the cheapest so we went with them. Everything was fine with the job until 2 years later when we began to have some minor water damage on our kitchen ceiling. After inspecting myself, we found that what was needed was a minor repair which should only take a few hours. Contacted Classic and they instantly remembered us, and said they would cover the repair. However he called on the day of scheduled repair to reschedule for the following day. And then no-showed on the rescheduled day. Now he refuses to answer my texts. It is clear that they have no intentions of honoring the warranty, even though doing so would only cost them a few dollars. I guess you get what you pay for...

Tim found the entrance of the leak on the roof.  He did more than he had too. He did a complete walk-through of my roof and caulk down loose shingles as needed.

After the installation, here's how the events of the past 4 years have unfolded. First, right after the roof was installed I inspected around my property and looked at the roof. The entire south face of my roof looked like a checker board. The shingle colors simply didn't match and were not even close. It was very easy to determine there wasn't a match. I had to call Classic about the problem. They sent a CertainTeed rep to my home to confirm the problem. That section of the roof had to be redone and was done at no charge to me. Then in 2008 a stain appeared on my 2nd floor bedroom ceiling. I called Tim, he came out and applied caulk around the chimney flashing. All seemed OK until about a little over a  year later, the same leak and stain appeared in December of 2009. He came out and did the same thing as 2008. Then 2011 rolls around and guess what? Same problem. I climbed into my attic and noticed mold and signs of fresh water penetration in the attic/around the chimney area. I called Tim, he came out with a helper and crawled around in my attic and looked at the chimney flashing. He told me he would come out the following day to further troubleshoot the ongoing problem. He never showed. I called him a number of times, with no return call. I then resorted to contacting my insurance company who had an engineering firm come out to determine the problem. One of the things they found was the chimney flashing was deficient and not installed according to the Residential Code of Ohio and per the recommendations of the National Roofing Contractors Association. I again called Tim about the results of the Engineering report. He called me back and proceeded to tell me that he wasn't aware of the codes where I lived and that he has done hundreds of roofs without any issue. I faxed him the engineering report section outlining the flashing issue as he asked. At the end of our conversation I asked Tim to call me in 48hrs with a decision as to what he wanted to do since I asked him for compensation in the form of a check for the repairs to be corrected. It has been 5 days, with no call back. DO NOT HAVE THIS COMPANY DO YOUR ROOF. YOU ARE ASKING FOR PROBLEMS. My experience with Classic Roofing is they lack the expertise and professionalism to properly install a roof and/or follow code.
Response from Classic Roofing
"Thanks for slandering my company again Member. Member failed to tell Angies List he did stucco work on his chimney after roof completion. When re-doing his chimney Member stated he did not have it sealed. The truth is, the contract was $5,300. We did everything according to contract. Member insisted I give him $900 toward building a chimney saddle. This; "Building a cricket" behind a chimney is not code in the city of Gahanna. It is a recommendation at the state level. In all my years of business I have never met a more unsatisfying individual as Member. This was an insurance claim. Insurance does pay for code upgrades. Had this, "Building a cricket" behind chimney had been code, we would have supplemented the insurance to do so. Member has simply beat my companies reputation down over a chimney he did work on after I completed the work. The color shade story; which has only happened once to my Company was addressed by the manufacturer. Member also knows his chimney was leaking because he did not seal his stucco. Who knows if he even did the stucco correctly. Member already dragged me through the BBB with his story and then attempted to extort $900 out of me before calling the BBB. This is total slander on the customers part as we did everything according to the contract...I believe Member is getting away with slander when he talks of my company. What he is complaining about was NOT on the contract. I am filing charges soon against Member for slander Generally, to prove slander, you must be able to show that someone made a false and unprivileged statement about you, this statement was conveyed to a third party and this statement resulted in damage to you. Public figures must also prove that the slanderous statement was made with actual malice. Member; Why did you fail to tell Angies List you did work on your chimney after we did the roof and before you filed complaint??"

It went very well. We we're ready to tear off the roof when Tim informed us that the roof had plenty of life and only needed new boots around the stacks. He replaced those for us and we also had him recap the mortar on the chimney. Overall, it looks good, and most importantly rain stays on the outside.

Good, ran out of shingles for porch roof, used a different type. Clean-up after the job was just good, not excellent. They were on time and completed the job as promised. Not sure everything was to code (i.e. did not put felt paper on edge of roof, just shingles.

I received quotes from four roofing companies. Classic not only had the lowest price, they were the only company that addressed the fact that my roof did not have adequate ventilation (something I knew from my home inspection) and included repaired/upgrades for that in my quote. Steve, who gave me my estimate, also took time to discuss any environmentally friendly options, as he knew we had made a lot of "green" home improvements. They did the work a week after I hired them and were very thorough. The roof looks very nice and I am happy with my decision to hire them.

I called on a Friday afternoon. The woman that answered the phone assured me they would get back to me that day. Everyone else I called wanted to schedule 1-2 weeks out. About 5 that evening I received a call from their repair guy. He apologized for not calling sooner. I was impressed he got back to me that quickly. He agreed to meet me the next morning at 10. He was there at exactly 10. He quickly assessed the condition and problem and explained what needed to be done and why. He said he would be out personally in the next week to complete the work -- and he was. He had a new roof on before others could have met with me. Very nice, very personable. Great service. Called me during the job to keep me informed about how things were going. Highly recommended.

Mr. Buckley is a very likable fellow and after a few games of phone tag we set up a time for an estimate. I decided to have him do my roof, partly because of price and also because a person I respect vouched for him. I like to be involved in every phase of a project and there were a few times when I wanted more communication than I got. It took two weeks to get a final inspection and that was frustrating to me. His work crew was very good and they cleaned up after themselves well. I would have liked more communication from the crew as well.

Very well. The insurance claim specialist, Rob Lodsin, worked well with my insurance adjuster and repairs due to hail damage were immediately approved. Work was done when expected. The crew was friendly and cleaned the area well after work was finished. The owner, Tim Buckley, came to my house and did a final inspection with me. He has continued to work at building up a low area that had leaked in the past. This has taken a while due to the lack of rain to check for any standing water. Both Rob and Tim were very punctual and were good at returning calls.

I have a leak somewhere in the front of he home. I not sure if that's the roof or the siding. After 6 months of trying to get them to come out they finally did the leak is still happening. I kept getting put off saying they will send someone out and never have.

THEY DID GREAT WORK ON TIME AND FOR A GREAT PRICE. CLASSIC ROOFING IS A SMALL BUSINESS, SO WHEN YOU CALL THEM, YOU SPEAK DIRECTLY TO THE OWNER, TIM. TIM IS VERY GOOD AT ANSWERING YOUR QUESTIONS AND DELIVERING ON WHAT HE PROMISES. THEY HAD THE BEST PRICES BY FAR AND SUPERIOR SERVICE. I UPGRADED TO THE 3-DIMENSIONAL SHINGLES FOR JUST $300 MORE. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

EXCELLENT WORK. THEIR WORK AND SERVICE WAS THE MOST PROFESSIONAL I HAVE SEEN FOR SOME TIME. THEY DID AN EXCELLENT JOB AND COMPLETELY CLEANED UP EACH DAY BEFORE THEY LEFT. ON THE SECOND HOUSE, THE WORKERS DAMAGED A GUTTER WITH THEIR LADDER. CLASSIC ROOFING REPLACED THE DAMAGED GUTTER WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS. I HAVE ALREADY RECOMMENDED THEM TO OTHERS.

WE LIKED THE IDEA OF DEALING DIRECTLY WITH THE OWNER. THEY DO NOT USE SUBCONTRACTORS. THE WORKERS DID A GREAT JOB AND REALLY CLEANED UP THE AREA WHEN THEY WERE FINISHED FOR THE DAY.
