Ear Nose & Throat - Hearing Aids
$7,000
I purchased a set of hearing aids for my 95 year old father. At the time of purchase, my dad asked the salesman, Mr. Richard Frankenberg (who has since left the company), if when he passed away as he was 95, if the hearing aids could be reprogrammed for his son (me). He said yes, no problem all that was needed was for me to call and he would take care of all the testing and reprogram them at no charge. These hearing aids cost around $7,000 so this was a big concern for my dad. Fast forward 2 years. My dad passed away, I called Miracle ear and scheduled an appointment to get them reprogrammed. I went in, the lady, Emily Rice, checked out the hearing aids, cleaned them looked in my ears and told me they was wax in my one ear, gave me an ear was removal kit, and scheduled me back in a week. The next week I went in, got a hearing test which took an hour. After the test she proceeded to tell me what my hearing deficiencies were. Then she said to me with an attitude, sorry I cannot do anything to the hearing aids you have because they do not belong to you. I explained to her the situation to no avail, after that she was rude and I left the store very upset. I subsequently called the corporate office 4 times over a 3 week period with a promise each time for a call back with no call backs. Finally, after telling the person on the other end of the phone I was going to call the State Attorney General’s office, I got a call back on the fifth call by the district operations manager. He basically told me that it was their company policy not to reprogram them for anyone but the original owner, if they did they would lose their license, and I was just out of luck. However, they would be happy to sell me another set of aids for another $7000. He also said that he was sorry that I was told this incorrect information at the time of purchase. This was little help to me. I asked him why they would not stand behind what their franchisee told us at the time of purchase and all he could say was that he was sorry but that guys should not have said that to us. Therefore, I would not recommend this company for hearing aids as they are overpriced and their customer service is very poor. They will tell you anything you want to hear to make a sale. There are other more reputable companies out there to choose from which are more reasonably priced and have better customer service.
