I had this large Ash tree that had succumb to the Emerald Ash Borer and died. During the last severe thunder & wind storm, earlier this spring, this Ash tree had broken off at the ground and was leaning over against a smaller Shagbark Hickory. It was fairly secure there caught in the v-notch of two large limbs. A week ago, another wind storm came through and had dislodged the Ash v-notch from the Shagbark Hickory. This created a dangerous situation, and if the Ash tree came loose and fell, it would probably had hit my storage shed/workshop. I called 3 different local tree service companies and left messages on two of them. Gray's was the only one that got back to me the same day. Gerald Gray, owner, personally stopped by to assess the situation. This was late in the day on July 3rd. Mr. Gray was very knowledgeable and thoroughly explained the procedure he recommended to drop the Ash tree and prevent damage to any other nearby trees and buildings. Like I stated previously, this was a very large and tall Ash tree. I had checked Angie's earlier for the average rates for similar work accomplished. Mr. Gray gave me a very competitive quote, that I accepted.Mr. Gray said he'd be out the next morning, July 4th, with his crew. I was totally surprised he was willing to work a holiday and NOT charge me a premium. Sure enough, at 8:30AM the morning of July 4th, Mr. Gray and his crew showed up. They were very professional in making sure they did not create any unnecessary damage. Using a truck mounted personnel crane/lift, they tied off the Ash to the Shagbark Hickory to prevent it from falling any further. They then commenced cutting and dropping all limbs and branches above where the tree was tied off. Once that was accomplished, and only thing left was the huge trunk, they skillfully used the rope to lower the trunk to the ground, all the while making sure no other damage occurred. They sawed the trunk in manageable pieces, loaded them onto the truck, chipped up all the smaller limbs and branches, and raked up the area. I was more than pleased with the result. I would recommend Gray's Tree Landscape & Lawn to anyone.
