- Our bathroom remodel was our first experience with any remodeling company. We can truly say we are glad we chose Wesson Builders. The salesman was able to create a plan for both bathroom areas that captured our expectations. He was very helpful with product lines and new ideas. Once project was finalized all materials were ordered and the work was scheduled. Every worker was professional, cordial, and very knowledgeable regarding their aspect of the project. Any sub-contractors used shared the same philosophy of being prompt and clean up the work site each afternoon. We did not experience any down time from the start to the end of project. Wesson understands the needs of the customer and they share in the customers vision of the final project. We were extremely pleased the CEO of Wesson visited the project several times and personally assisted in color selection. The entire project took 4 weeks to complete. We will definitely choose Wesson in the future for any other remodeling needs.
Final bill was as expected...no surprises.
All-in-all Wesson has been a pleasure to work with...they (Denny, Dan, and Fred) were very accessible, very meticulous, totally into customer service, and honest. I never felt they were wasting my time or money.
I have already talked to them about some additional work we plan to do next year. I will be happy to use them again.
Denny Wolke of Wesson Builders worked with us to create what I can only describe as a miracle. And I want to emphasize the word WITH -- we were partners in this project, and always felt they were fully engaged with us and cared as much as we did to make the project a success.
It took longer than we originally expected, but we ran into surprises that had to be addressed. The team always showed up when they were supposed to. The contract was followed to a and quot;Tand quot;, and we knew from Day One when checks would be due to the company. They allowed us to do some things ourselves, bringing our cost down somewhat. We also were able to source our own items and deduct those items from the contract which also brought our cost down. Being a great shopper, this really saved us a LOT.
They took the time to do things the RIGHT way: Their team is made up of people who really care. If we saw something that we thought wasn't quite what we expected, we said something and it was taken care of.
We look forward to working with Wesson Builders again in the future. Our bathroom is at least as bad as the kitchen was: I can't wait to see what they do with it!
Just wanted to add that while we've managed to cover for the outrageously crooked and not plumbed walls with furnishings and decor, it is a constant aggrivation to use our master bathroom. The corners have prominent cracks from floor to ceiling, which I'm not sure even a masterful painter could disgiuse.
Our laundry room doors which they installed are rickety, unlevel, have a gap between them, and need constant adjustment.
It usually takes two, three or four attempts to get them to close properly.
We have had constant problems with the tankless hot water heater they installed. We found out at the end of our experience with this contractor that they had been using lots of non-licensed labor, especially with the plumbing. We had to have a repairman out after only one year of use on this unit that had a 12 year warranty. We then found out that it had been improperly installed without a vent pipe. One was then installed, but that left us with a year old unit with a nullified unit becaule of the Wesson Builder's incorrect installation. We have since had to replace the entire unit.
We cannot reiterate strongly enough: DO NOT USE THIS BUILDER!!! Even if he has gone back to just doing garages. He's a cheat who cares only about his bottom line. He promises the max and only gives as little as he can get away with, leaving customers with the consequences. Thank heavens our attorney recovered damages for us to cover these replacement costs.
ORIGINAL Comments: While this contractor, basically finished the job after many delays and a time-frame over twice as long as promised, there were so many unnecessary problems. We were overcharged, fees were vague and hidden and when adjustments to work were made, the proper adjustments to fees were NOT. This builder uses deceptive sales practices, and when questioned about it, told us that if he didn't do business that way, he wouldn't be in business. The worst problem was with the constant delays. The major one was after they tore the back end of the house off, it was 7 weeks before they got the roof back on. During that time there were torrential rains, and we tried to tell the contractor that the tarps were shifting and we saw evidence of leaking into our living room wall. We were just told to not worry about and they would fix that at the end of the project when they were doing all the other drywall. When it was time to do the drywall we moved things out of the living room, in particular the large entertainment center that had been in front of the wall that leaked. There was a huge amount of toxic mold damage to the wall, the entertainment center, the carpeting and floor. The entire living room wall had to be torn out and replaced after mold remediation was performed on that room. They fought us about doing the remediation, trying to say the mold was our fault. Every other contractor we talked to said they would NEVER leave a roof breech open that long. Mold is a common problem in remodeling, and they had no insurance coverage for mold. We did eventually get them to pay for the remediation, but our entire living room possessions had to be stored in a PODS in our yard for the 3 months as the entire rest of our house was torn up and still under construction. We basically lived out of one small bedroom during that whole time. The kitchen was not safe to cook in due to the mold and all the construction dirt and dust. So, all our meals had to be taken out during this time. 14 days before Christmas, against our wishes, they dumped the entire contents of the PODS into our living room. We have a small retail business and could not possibly get the room back together before the holiday, as the floor was not quite finished. After 6 months of delay after delay, constant threats to walk off the job, and unsatisfactory work in some areas, they were vindictive enough to try to ruin our Christmas. The mold reports showed at least 3 different TOXIC molds which we were exposed to for months during all the delays and petty work shut-downs. This contractor was a garage builder, and has taken on bigger jobs over recent years. They definitely bit off more than they could chew in our house, as they did not have the proper staff to get the job done in a timely fashion along with all the other work they had taken on. We are currently working with an attorney to resolve the damages from their deceptive business practices.
