Was unprofessional.
Had to drive him down to hardware store to get parts he did not have.  He got the wrong parts.  Had to drive him back then he realized he had the right parts.  Had new machine to try to thaw frozen pipes.  Did not know how to work it.  Had to help him start it.  Should not have bothered  it did nothing.
Had a leak in one of his fittings.  Called and scheduled for him to come out numerous times and he never showed up.  My guess is he did not want to repair his own leak b/c he did not get the bigger job to replace the sump line.  Hmm, I wonder why...
Thumbs down on this company.  Don't waste your money.
Response from Rooter Right
"Rooter Right always strives to leave customers satisfied and in the instance we failed to do so and we apologize for that. [Removed Member name] did call to set up a follow up appointment and gave the option of a Sunday that we could not make, we should have done a better job of following g up with him to find a day that worked for both parties and in that respect we failed. However, in regard to the work performed that day, this review states facts but not in an accurate manner. [Removed Member name] It had a frozen sump discharge line and if the line had been properly installed using the proper pipe the option to jet the line would have been the best option. The only reason it did not work is because either a previous contractor or homeowner I stalled a discharge HOSE instated of a PIPE. This was explained to Mr. Itil prior to beginning work as was the fact that we could not guarantee the outcome. Indeed the machine used was brand new having been purchased just days prior to the job and needed quite a few pulls to get going. [Removed Member name] was never asked for any assistance, nor did he ask permission to assist, he totally took it upon himself to do so, and at the time he was just trying to be helpful which we appreciate but to turn around and try to make it seem as though we were incompetent because he wanted to help is a bit extreme. Because we could not get the line open we hooked up what was supposed to be a very temporary solution to discharge his sump pump. The way it was hooked up was illegal and against code as a permanent solution Again, all of this was explained to the customer.. The reason we did so was to keep his basement from flooding so we could buy time to come up with a permanent solution, the improper install was the reason the line leaked. [Removed Member name] took it upon himself to run up to the hardware for a fitting, he was not asked to, again this was something he totally took upon himself, the service tech only went with him to ensure he got the proper fittings. Indeed, the tech made a mistake and grabbed a male instead of a female fitting, we never claim to be perfect. Throughout the whole job [Removed Member name] was very nice and helpful, all of which was volunteered and appreciated, but not required nor requested. I believe had we gotten the line open he would have been very happy but unfortunately not all problems have a simple solution. We tried doing all we could that day to at least make sure his basement wouldn't flood again until he could make the permanent repair, I believe we accomplished that. However there is no excuse for us not being diligent in finding a day to come back that worked for all parties and for that we apologize."

Sam was supposed to start on Sept 2, 2014 and finish by the end of that weekend (Sept 7).  Tuesday, Sept 2, his excuse was that his co-worker called off.  Wed, Sept 3, he forgot he had school.  Thurs, Sept 4, meeting in Detroit that lasted longer than it should have.  Fri, Sept 5, his truck broke down.  He finally made it over Sat Sept 6!!!  Since we cannot get our drywall put up until our plumbing passes inspection, we told Sam that it was very important that this job get done immediately and that we were upset that the job wasn't finished (or even started) when he said it would be.  He apologized and said that our house was top priority and would be done ASAP.  That next week I got a text (Tues Sept 9) that said "Class Monday and Tuesday but open the rest of the week, should have rough done by Monday Sept 15th".  By Sunday Sept 21 he STILL wasn't done.  He refused to answer his phone for me, but when I had my mom call from a different number he answered.  She told him to get to my house immediately or he was fired.  By Sat sept 27, he STILL wasn't finished!!!  By Tues Sept 30, he FINALLY said he was finished.  My plumbing inspector came that week and OF COURSE, his work did NOT pass.  Actually, the inspector wouldn't even do the inspection because Sam failed to seal all of the pipes in order for the inspector to pressure test the lines! He said "I wasn't sure if that was the homewoners responsibility or the plumbing inspectors".  Like me or the plumbing inspector are going to go around the entire house and UP ON THE ROOF to seal pipes?????  I'M NOT A PLUMBER!!!!  That was HIS responsibility!!!   He came and fixed it the next week, October 14th.  New inspection was today, BIG FAT FAIL.  HUGE list of things that weren't up to code, things that weren't installed properly, not strapped properly, not vented properly, etc. I called him and told him and he acted like it wasn't a big deal and told me to "relax".  He said he would go over there right away and fix it and that he would even get his "master plumber" over there to make sure everything was up to code.  MASTER PLUMBER?????  So this whole entire time he has had a master plumber and I never knew that and and failed two inspections?  I allowed him to come over and fix it AGAIN.  Since I already paid him half ($1500) in cash, I figured I might as well get my money's worth.  Inspection October 30, 2014: ANOTHER FAIL!!!!  This guy literally failed THREE plumbing inspections.  Shame on me for even thinking he could come fix the crap he messed up in the first place.  I told him he failed AGAIN and that he was fired.  He tried making up 100 excuses as to why he failed, saying that he could argue the inspection if he could just explain it to the inspector and that inspectors can be wrong sometimes.  Uhhhhhh no, he's the inspector for the county, I think he knows what he's talking about.  When I asked him to be there for the inspection he said "I don't know, that sounds kinda sketchy and like a set-up to me".  I lieterally had no words, I couldn't even believe what came out of his mouth.  So needless to say, he did not show up to the inspection.  Anyway, we fired him, hired a REAL plumber, and the new plumber fixed EVERYTHING!  Sam installed a HUGE stack right in the middle of my laundry room floor, when I argued that it should be in the wall (my walls are COMPLETELY OPEN), he said it was IMPOSSIBLE and could not be done no matter what.  Well my real plumber put it in the wall WHERE IT BELONGS :) he also took out TONS AND TONS of pipe that was in ridiculous spots, he fixed pipes that weren't even glued in all the way (don't worry, I have pictures and kept the pipes), and he made sure everything was up to code.  He also fixed the LEAKING GAS LINE that Sam cut and just left hanging in my basement.  My whole house smelled like gas and it could have litertally blown up, but hey who cares right?  Of course Sam wanted the other half of his money that he thought I owed him, but I explained that since I just had to pay another company to come in and fix all of his mistakes and shoddy work, I would not be paying him.  Yesterday was our inspection and WE PASSED (no thanks to Rooter Right).  The inspector was happy about the work that our new guy fixed and said he was glad someone came in who knew what they were doing.  After 12 weeks, 3 whole months, we finally have plumbing in our house UP TO CODE!  Remember, this was a job that was supposed to be done by September 7th.   Luckily, I saved every single text message and kept notes throughout the whole entire process.  I strongly urge you NOT to use this company.  He promised it would be done within a week, that it would be up to code, and that he was the best around.  ALL LIES. DO NOT USE ROOTER RIGHT UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE!!!

Very pleased with the work that was done.  Digging in clay is no easy task and Sam left the yard in very good shape considering the dig was 250 feet!  Based on our initial meeting with Sam decided to offer him the job although he had no feedback.  No regrets at all with our choice!
