They arrived on time with their tools and equipment. They got to work right away. I was not aware of it taking 4 hours though as each process has a wait time for things to dry so it took a bit longer than I thought. They use a chemical to strip the floor, washed it all off, let it dry then did several layers of finish. I asked them to install a fan in the window on exhaust to keep any fumes away from the bird and I coverd the large fish tanks in the room they were working in as they could not be moved. They applied the finish with a large mop and I noticed the solution seemed to run out before they were done with the room. Some areas were hand applied under the tanks and in corners. You cannot walk on it when wet or even sticky so it was hard to see all of the hidden areas. At the end, you are asked if it looks ok and asked to sign a statement that it looks ok without really being able to see the entire surface close up. I signed, I wrote out a check, they cleaned up and left. A month later I noticed spots, wear spots, spots that looked like no finish had ever been applied and in general, was unhappy with how it was wearing. I called Mr. Sandless to let him know. I was questioned as to how I walked on the floor, how the animals walked on the floor, leaking fish tanks, splash from the tanks, snow and rain on the floor (late spring this was done), all things indicating my fault rather than the fault of the application or the product. We finally decided to have them come back out and look at the floor, a floor which by the way had two large 6 x 8 rugs on it with the wear only showing where the rugs did not cover. They honored the warranty, totally refinishing the floor again with a better, newer product made for high use and applying it thicker, with a heavier applicaiton. The floor is staying better.............around the tanks is wearing....something they should expect and should compensate for with more product or a better means of applying as they knew the tanks were there and they knew the room got used. It beat having the room sanded and refinished as we cannot go without this room as it is the main entrance to the house and the main path to the bathroom and bedrooms and basement for washing clothes.
