I called to make an appointment. Once I arrived and started the paperwork, I was transferred to a different loan officer because the first one wasn't licensed in my state. The office is near the stateline. Why wasn't that question asked when the appointment was made? I wrote a check for the credit report. Five minutes later I was asked to write another check for the appraisal. Why two checks when both were made out to Midwest Mortgage? I requested the check be held four days and was assured that it would. It was deposited the following day. Over time, I was given three closing dates, none of which materialized. It was always someone else's fault. Once was due to a desk review of the appraisal which they repeatedly "guaranteed" would not change the appraised value, but did. This in turn resulted in a reduced amount available to loan. After waiting seven weeks with no result, I was fed up and contacted a different mortgage company. Midwest started to scramble attempting to match (unsuccessfully) everything offered by the competitor. When I told the owner/manager I was pursuing another alternative because I was tired of waiting, he told me that he didn't realize there was a "sense of urgency", but immediately realized that was the wrong thing to say and tried to backtrack. After nine weeks, they were finally ready to loan me less than I had requested. I informed them I would be using their competitor and was peppered with phone calls and emails making all kinds of promises which still fell short of what I was able to achieve with the other company. Their prices were higher, their promises were empty, and the time required was unending. I would not recommend them.

He was kind enough to answer my questions truthfully on the selling end so that I did not have to hire a lawyer. He was very professional.
