The owner "Pat" showed up at my home unannounced to ask if I had decided had decided on a company to do the driveway. His estimate was the cheapest, and the company had good reviews. I agreed to give them the job. They proceeded to tear out the driveway immediately. I then told them I did not want the driveway installed until the weekend was over due to my son's graduation party. They agreed they would return after the weekend. At 8 AM the following morning the showed up to install the driveway. I was confused, I said you weren't supposed to return until Monday. They seemed very eager to begin that day so I agreed to let them install. Upon the installation I pointed out many discrepancies in the driveway to the owner. Pat explained that all the driveways the do look like this and that they had been in business 40 plus years they know what they are doing. The driveway was very uneven and the edges were rough, wavey, and crooked. Pat told me my yard is crooked not the driveway. Mind you, they are the ones that aligned my yard to accommodate the new drive. He agreed that there were some issues but by the time they were finished it would look great. I went iny house for a short time, came out and they were gone! I proceeded to call the company to explain the many issues such as the driveway being 2 1/2 inches thick in one area, yet 1/2 in others. They agreed to return to further repair. When Pat returned days later he was very angry that I was unhappy with their work. He became very aggressive and was shouting. He agreed that areas needed addressed and would return. They returned days later unannounced while I was away. When I returned home I noticed that that added asphalt on top of the uneven areas to make the driveway even. Now I had speed bumps on my driveway that within days began to crack and break apart. I have since contacted the BBB, the company responded that they would reimburse me $500. However, the driveway is less than a month old and is beyond repair and needs replaced. Pat Bain told the BBB that it was I that was aggressive, and the cracks and crumbling of the driveway was my responsibility because I had parked a heavy truck on the driveway. I do not own, nor was there any sort of such a thing. Pat fabricated a story to the BBB and assumed no responsibility. When I explained to the BBB that they can close my case and that I'm seeking legal action that is when the company has agreed to discuss how they can make things right. However, if they attempted to "make things right" on two occasions and actually made things worse would I want them back??? The company is very unprofessional and the quality of work was well below what anyone could expect. Pat attempted to bully me in accepting a driveway that was simply unacceptable.

We were extremely satisfied with the work done.
There was a problem with the grade that my husband posted about recently and he was upset about it. However, Mr. Bain did come out again and personally took care of listening to the concern and repairing it properly. He is very honest and did a very nice job.
We would definitely use him again. Very reliable, and professional.Took care of problems that arose during job in a prompt and professional manner.

It went pretty good until a year later I noticed some sinking of some dirt by an island in the driveway.Then one day I just happened to be outside and noticed some ponding going on ther.Now the is straigh east of our drive and the water eventually will probably washout underneath it.Do to the fact instead of having the water go straight north and DOWN our driveway it NOW makes a U_turn and goes east.I called Patrick Bain he promply shows up ,I had a hose out there and showed him what the water was doing(and where it's washing away the dirt) and were's there's a hump in the driveway HE put down and all he can say is he didn't know I wanted it to grade.
This guy should not be putting down asphalt at all if he can't set a grade and make water flow w/o causing damage to another driveway.I suppose now we'll have to get someone else in there to tear it up and do it right.I'll bet they'll have a laugh seeing what he created!!!
There is actually a small hill(of asphalt they made!!) about 6' from our garage door that is causing this problem of it running wrong.
It did come out pretty good otherwise ,but we will have to get it tore up and replaced as soon as we can afford it.

They did a good job...I was happy with them. They did everything they said they would and their price was good. I would definitely use them again in the future.

Called for an estimate and asked to have someone meet us in person at our home to discuss what needed to be done. They were very responsive with calling back. Met with Patrick at our home and he was very attentive.

He mentioned certain areas of the drive that needed built up as they had dropped off. Mentioned our gutters should be switched so the run off would not go directly onto the drive. (These made the difference when meeting with them as other contractors either just did the quote without meeting with us or made no mention to the small things.)

Quote was $300 less than other contractors. Had them put us in their schedule. We were told it be 6-8 weeks (That was around March 20th.) They called the week of April 2nd and said they could get the drive out that Weds. (April 4th) and would have the step in at the beginning of the following week and done by end of that week.

So they were there bright and early Weds. April 4th. Removed driveway with no issues. They left the street access until the following week so that it would be easier to get my car in and out of driveway. Left a pile of limestone in the driveway to buildup the sunken section.

Patrick checked on the work the next day, called to say they shouldn't have just left the limestone as they did and would be there first thing in the morning to level and compact the drive so that it would be smooth while the step was being installed. And they were there the next morning first thing and did as he said.

Communication the first of the next week was great. They removed the remaining part of the drive on Tuesday and also added more limestone and leveled.

Contractor they hired for the cement step came and did the forms Tuesday. Poured Weds.
The step looks fantastic, just the right height between the drive and the porch. Also, the finish on the step very closely resembles that of the porch, so once they are both stained again you will never know it is a newer step.

Bain and Sons came Thursday, April 12th and paved the driveway. Very attentive to the part going into the drive and around the porch and step. We also have bricks running next to the drive as a sidewalk and they were always very aware of them. They also tapered the side that is just grass and it looks really nice.

Overall, the drive looks fantastic. The leveling is great and the water runs right to the street. We are very happy with not only the job that they performed, but also the amount of communication we received. Whenever we would call they would always get back to us the same day. We will not hesitate to recommend them to our neighbors.

Out of everything that could go wrong there was only one thing I would comment on and it's not that they did anything wrong but... there is an oil footprint on our brick sidewalk right in the middle going to the main sidewalk. As our brick is light in color I'm hoping it will fade a little, but if that is my biggest complaint, I can live with it.
