The installers were right on time the day of installation. After they had been on scene for about 5 minutes, one came to us and asked if we were having the laminate installed on the landing off of our kitchen. We told him that yes, the landing was part of the price. The salesman had mis-measured so they hadn't brought enough material. Okay, we were fine with that just as long as they were back out within a few days to finish. This all happened on a Monday. That same day we were told, by the salesman, that someone from Empire would be in touch with us that night to schedule an appointment for that. No phone call ever came, so I called them and was told someone would be calling me back. It never happened. The exact same thing on both Tuesday and Wednesday. All the while I'm calling the salesman Dave who keeps lying to me, telling me he's "with a customer" and that he would "call me right back." He never once called me back.
By Thursday I was beyond angry with Empire. I called and spoke for over an hour to a customer service rep named Orlando who went above and beyond for me and I finally heard back from the installation manager. The manager promised me that a crew would be out on Saturday to complete the job. I called him Saturday about noon to inquire as to the installers ETA. He called me back, apologizing profusely, because he had forgotten to schedule someone to do the job. The installers ended up returning on Sunday to complete the job.
Due to the ineptness of the installer and the constant inability to reach someone after the job was semi-completed, I will never shop again with Empire. The floor is nice and we're happy with it, but I want a salesman that won't lie and will go out of his way to make sure that his customer is happy. The I spoke to multiple customer service representatives at Empire, and not a single one of them could help me with anything until I had the luck of contacting Orlando.
Empire needs to take a lesson from this....customer service AFTER the sale is just as important as the sale itself. As I told Dave when he was at our house mis-measuring, if we were happy with Empire we will have them install flooring in the rest of our house. 3 bedrooms, dining area, foyer, stairs and landing. At this point I would not hire empire to lay an area rug.
