He arrived on time, his estimate was quick, and he started on the problem. The water to the whole house had to be shut off since the tub didn't have it's own shut-offs, (it does now, one of the things I had him install). He took longer than his estimate, but this is mostly due to his office being late with a replacement faucet, so he had to go get one. He was clean, there was no mess to clean up.

The tech arrived promptly and diagnosed a problem with the basement shut off (?). He said he could not get the drain to plug again (we had done a lot of plunging before calling) but would snake it anyway as requested. When I arrived he was presenting a bill for $230 for the drain only and had already explained a maintenance program. I questioned the bill and the need for a clean out from 10 months ago - he had no record of it. At our insistence he called the office and it's record was there (?) but, unfortunately, there is no guarantee for it. A check of the previous visit's price showed the cost w/in $10 and I questioned how that could be since it was only the drain this time and not an emergency call? Uncomfortable and long story short, the tech pressured a decision as he was due on other calls, made several calls to the office, inside and then outside when claiming bad reception (?), came back with a $115 offer which we declined, then reluctantly, and with voiced concern about what he would face from the boss the next day, the drain was snaked w/o charge with the understanding that there was "no guarantee and Ben Franklin would absolutely not return to this house again". He did indeed leave the shower/bathroom/entry etc very clean, which seemed to be a major concern. I offered to speak with the boss, at several points along the way, but was refused. It seemed the tech was in a struggle himself and did the best he could and stayed professional. When the he left, the downstairs shut off proved to be in excellent condition. From all appearances, this was an attempt to scam a senior citizen. I am grateful to have come when I did. Update, 1/10/17: The shower drain that had been cleared back in February and then again Dec. 30, 2016 backed completely up again on 1/7/17. Less than 3 weeks and only 4 showers later! So glad a second cleaning fee was not paid!

Company called to schedule an appointment with me right away. I chose an afternoon appointment (between 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm) and received a phone call when technicians were on their way.
When technicians arrived they introduced themselves (Larry & Chris), took a look at my water heater to see if it was electric or gas then went to work.
I felt very comfortable with the technicians and asked a lot of questions while they were doing their inspection, because I wanted to know how to take better care of my home.
The technicians answered every one of my question professionally and in a way that I understood what they were saying. Technicians also wore protective clothing on their shoes when they walked through my house. I thought that was very considerate.
I was very impressed with the work that technicians Larry & Chris did at my home and will definitely use them again for my plumbing needs.

It did not go very well. Because I have an older house, the person that was sent out did not like working on the steel pipes. He wanted to put in all plastic. He explained what he was doing.

Great. Came after hours in timely fashion. Plumber was very professional and had a great sense of humor. Told me what he was doing, what our choices were, and what it would cost before he did it. Very respectful of our home and space and efficient in getting job done and cleaned up. Would definitely call again.

I was given an estimate of $59 for the serviceman walking though the door.
After telling him the problem he wrote me up an "estimate".
I only wanted the problems fixed, but he gave me pricing on a new toilet I did not request.
I said no, just fix the issues please. He also gave me information about joining
there "society" maintenance program. I did not see the cost/benefit for this
as I have had very infrequent plumbing repairs. YMMV.
I had a $50 dollar coupon or else this would have cost more. I brought this to his
attention BEFORE he did the job. However, when he wrote up the bill he forgot to give me
the $50 credit. He said he would "mark sure" I get the credit and scribbled some notes
on the bill. We will see.
My only real beef was the high price here. They know you need the service already
and have your $59, so why would you NOT want the job done?
Your toilet is broken and leaking,  you've waited all day, so why not?
In searching the internet I found quality tank rebuild kits for around $40.
So, it depends if you want to do it yourself and have the expertise.
I always want to avoid the time and aggravation, so you pay for this.
As far as the punctual guarantee I was given a time slot of between 1 and 5pm.
He showed up at 4:45pm and worked about an 1 and 1/2 hours. A fast repair
much appreciated.
I've had Rooter Router come a couple of times over the years and never paid anything
under $200 for two drain cleanings.
Just some observations, as I said the only complaint was the high price, but you have to know
this going in when you call for services like this.

When I called in a panic with 2" water rising in basement - they came promptly, pumped out water and proceeded to repair damaged equipment. It was cleaned up neatly when they finished.

They show up and fix it the first time and I don't have any problems after that. They charge a little more but they do a good job. I like them because they are a full service company, they do plumbing and another part of company does heating and air. I've been using them for years.

They are a sister company of the people who service my furnace. My house is seventeen years old, and had all the original fixtures and plumbing. He showed me where it was leaking.  All that he said was true. The water is now softer and it tastes better. The water pressure is up. He threw in a couple of free things. He was polite and thorough, and answered all my questions. He put covers on his feet when he walked through my house. The work took longer than he thought it would. He was out here a second day and everything was done on time.  He was everything I would expect from a handyman, and he also cleaned up after himself when he was done. I could perhaps have found someone cheaper, but he showed me that he knew what he was doing, for instance, by showing me the problem with the way the water heater was draining out; I could see he knew what he was talking about. I think his price was probably fair, though I don’t know what plumbers cost. I also got a year’s maintenance contract on the work from the sister company.
