The gentleman came out. He was responsible enough to come out, because of our appointment, even though his wife was in the hospital. He was very friendly and he explained to me what he was doing before he did it. He checked everything for me, for the chimney, all the way from the roof and down through the basement. He quoted me a price and I thought it was a little high. I'm still in the process of looking for more estimates.

While having our roof inspected, it was noted that the chimney had water damage. The brick was flaking badly near the top. I called Ka-D's for a chimney inspection and estimate. After agreeing to the estimate, we scheduled the work. Approximately three feet of the chimney had to be torn down and rebuilt, using new bricks. During demolition, it was found that the previous owners had the chimney extended. Whoever did the job, just added on to the existing chimney by bumping out the chimney enough to install bricks around the old chimney cap, without removing it. Water collected on and in the bump-out area, causing the damage. The additional work increased the cost.
