I attempted to install a smart thermostat in a new home - something I've done before with no problems. I was not so lucky this time. The wires going to the thermostat were too short and in the process of trying to get them to work with the new thermostat, a fuse was blown, leaving me with no heat overnight. I'm new to the area so I started calling HVAC companies for help. Overcashier & Horst was the company who was most willing to help on such a short notice. They did tell me they had a full schedule but would squeeze me in. The tech was here about half an hour, quickly identifying and solving the problem. They won my business for future annual tune-ups and HVAC repairs.

Overcashier and Horst installed a new Trane furnace and AC in August of 2010. Last night we paid $139 to have them diagnose our non-working AC. It was determined to have a bad compressor. Tech said it was manufactured in 2010 and should have a 10 yr warranty. He said I would receive a call in the morning to confirm. The call came and we were told the AC was never registered so there would be no warranty in place. The bill would be $2,000 for the part and labor. They said their employee must have done this as a "side" job and OC will not stand by the work done. Obviously poor management at the time and lack of inventory control which has become very costly to us. I would never recommend OC to anyone. They would not help us whatsoever.

Service arrived an hour late. The tech who came over was possibly high and unprofessional. He had no idea what he was doing and suggested we call someone else even though Overcashier was involved with the installation.

The two different service techs who were required due to my demands were professional, quick, neat & clean. All services guaranteed in a generous time frame. We own a few homes in different states. Overcashier is the best of the three providers I use. Front desk communications were brilliant. I'm very very clean and healthy and they recommended (supported by webmd) an Air Scrubber - which after verification I am excited to install. I cannot recommend Overcashier & Horst enough.

Everything in the entire process was 1st class and highly responsive and respectful.


The first indication was the excellent proposal format presented by the contact person. It was far superior to the other bidders? proposals. The OH proposal was detailed, gave model numbers, technical specifics, tax info, alternates, the entire package?..everything I needed to make the decision. That?s very important to me as a matter of trust. While I?m sure the other bidders included many of the same aspects of work, it just wasn?t presented in such a clear manner. As a result of the excellent proposal, I went with the highest level package.


Second was the contact person himself. He was highly responsive. He got back to me almost at once every time I contacted him. That included at 6:30 in the morning on installation day. He also promised, right from the start, to be able to do the work immediately. One of the other bidders was foggy on this, but he  made the commitment and stuck to it. That level of responsiveness made a difference in my decision. He  was also very savvy as a technical expert, another big plus. He could answer all my questions right then and there. That gives the potential customer a real sense of ?peace of mind?.


Lastly, the installers were great ambassadors for the company. They  referenced what a great organization OH is, how much they  enjoyed working there, how good the Trane products were, etc. The best part is that you could tell they sincerely meant it. You don?t see that a lot anymore. It?s very impressive, and refreshing to the customer. I also offered the guys coffee or a soda a number of times, but they wouldn?t take a break. They said they wanted to be sure to get the work done so I could have heat that day. That?s putting the customer first.


 I?ve certainly learned OH is a class organization that the customer can trust. The OH people make it so.

Interviewed 4 contractors. These guys were the only firm that understood the question "What is your approach to quality control" and had a process which they followed when implementing. Their process is based on principles of six sigma. This is what I wanted and they delivered. They are trained in their process, are certified by the OEM and use their installation check lists. They took time to properly scope size of unit, did not try to oversell as other firms did. Great installation, even the local building inspector complimented them on the quality of the installation and duct work done. Recommended them to several neighbors. This is the firm you want to use.

2 installers spent most of a day pulling the old unit out & wiring in the new unit. Both men were courteous, showed up on time, got done about 1/2 hour sooner than they estimated, cleaned up when they were done. Showed us how to program the new thermostat (included), how to work the new built-in humidifier, how to change out the filter.

Service Tech had difficulty fitting hose due to parts gasket on new hot water heater not setting properly. Rather than address the issue his answer was to discard the part that came with the hot water heater. When I questioned this approach, he got very rude and actually insulted me on 2 separate occasions. I was going to ask him to leave my home immediately, but concerned I would not get hot water heater installed that day (and thus no hot water). At the end of the day, he left the part off that came with the water heater and I didn't argue because he had a bad temper and I didn't want to provoke him. Also, he crimped a metal hose and when I questioned it he said it said it was ok (however) when tank was filling you could hear the water "hissing" as it moved thru the crimped section of hose. Following I called owner to tell him of my dissatisfaction and he made excuse about the Techs behavior telling me that he hires ex-atheletes and they can have this type rude behavior. I told him I wanted someone to come out and install the required part (supplied by manufacture) on the heater and fix the crimped metal hose. I also made it very clear that I didn't want this same person coming back to my home as he had a bad temper and was very rude. To my dismay, it was this same person that called me two days latter to set up the return appointment. Needless to say, I said no and replaced the hose by self and just forgot about the part not installed.

Greg (the technician) was friendly and let me know what he was doing each step of the way. Besides the machine being noisy it was a pleasant experience all around. He even bought Girl Scout cookies from my daughter :)

The people they sent out to install the system did not do a professional job. Other people from Overcashier had to come
and fix everything. Two different times they left their tools at our house. They told us to buy a filter for our new furnace because it doesn't come with it. Two times the overflow pump was leaking. We had to have our hot water heater restarted twice. They
had to fill in the big hole in the wall between the laundry room in the garage that they left. Our floor was damaged and
they left the place a mess. They had to come back eight times before everything--except the floor was right. Now we have
to have the floor replaced. The settlement from the insurance company covered a little over half the price of the new floor.
It's shocking that a company with such a good reputation could make such a mess of installing a furnace.

Called Overcashier and Horst on the recommendation of another company that did not have the right parts to fix our furnance. The tech arrived as promised and was very professional and friendly. He work for about an hour replacing a gas valve on our furnance. The repaired fixed the problem and the cost was very reasonable. Great customer service. Would call them again.
