Exterior Qualities Roofing & Home Improvements

I contacted this company because of their excellent ratings on Angie’s List. I explained to Robin, the receptionist, that I would like to get an estimate for a composite deck that would go over an existing concrete porch/steps. I setup a time to get the estimate and all was very pleasant. I met with Corey and I was very specific on what I wanted. I explained that the house is a rental, and when he gave me the estimate I would like to be able to ‘tweak’ it. Therefore, please give me an explanation of the work being done by labor, supplies, etc. Again, I was very specific. He told me that was not a problem and he would have an estimate in a day or two. Before the estimate was received, he called me to say that they were going to have to tear the steps out, which I specifically told him I did not want to do. I asked him why and he told me his boss told him. He then stated that one way the deck was anchored to house and another way it was not anchor to the house. I asked him why one way versus the other but he was not able to explain it to me other than to say his boss would decide how it would be done. When I received the estimate, it was in one lump sum and approx. $3000.00 more than an estimate received from a competitor. I emailed Corey asking him about the price being in one lump sum instead of broken down like I asked, and I was send an email about how things work in the “estimate” world. I found him to be very condescending. Previous estimates I have requested and received for this and other jobs have been broken down into labor, supplies, etc. He then stated the price he gave me was a great price and I should be happy because they are a great company. I have been a landlord for over 15 years and I know how estimates work. I told Robin how disappointed I was in the whole experience with Corey and she asked if I wanted to speak to Mr. Barney, the owner. I agreed and four weeks have passed and no call from Mr. Barney. I am very disappointed with the lack of respect I encountered with Corey and ultimately with the company. I have no idea the quality of their work but could not recommend them based on the above experience.

Quality work done , polite workers, work completed on schedule, only slight delay on some work due to weather conditions.

We were very happy with the great job Exterior Qualities Home Improvement did. Their staff was professional and very considerate. They went out of their way to make sure all areas of escape for our 8 pound dog were blocked. The fence also looks great! They even adjusted the back of the fence so my neighbors dog would be safe as well, without me even asking. I have already asked them for an estimate for another job.

They did an excellent job! When the crew came to complete the work, they decided to do some additional repairs at no extra charge. We have already hired them for another project on our home.

Never got a return phone call.

They were very professional, and they did everything that we asked them for. They answered all of our questions, but we didn't choose them. My husband was very impressed with the assessment and with the quote. We didn't choose them because we liked the material and the explanation of that with the other company. Both companies were equally impressive. They were thorough. They did not charge us. There was a difference in price, but that is not what swayed us. What swayed us was the first best and last best. Overall, my husband was very impressed.

Great! Very happy with the results. We called them back to fix a few shingles that fell off our old (existing) roof during a wind storm. They were very prompt to take care of it.

I met a salesman at a home show in March and set up an appointment right away with them to provide a few estimates. The first guy I met and the guy who came to give estimate were both very nice. The person who came to the house was new, but did not offer much in the way of being able to answer questions like if he could direct me in the way of houses they have done in the area, etc. He was very good with his quote, being able to accommodate every request I threw at him, and it was a lot! He came out on a Thursday and immediately gave me the estimates for the siding. But he promised to have the estimate for the bay window emailed to me over the weekend and I have yet to receive it, almost 2 whole months later. No one from the company has contacted me since the visit to my house. I think they have a lot to offer but lack in communication skills. Personally I feel if I'm looking to give you over $10,000 then I shouldn't have to keep reaching out to you, you should be doing the work to contact me. This company was in my top 2 companies to pick to do my project, but after a week of no communication, dropped out of the running all together. A B rating might be too high, but a C rating might be too low.

Good work and prompt

It went well enough, but they were sometimes unresponsive for a day or two. I think the office person was sick, and nobody covered for them.

At first, we didn't like the railing that was installed. But we worked it out and LOVE the end result. It is very well made and very solid. They made it right. Would definitely hire again.

They were fantastic! We love the fence. It is beautiful and sturdy. The entire install took 3 days. We got off to a slow start because it was a custom design and we had to work through a few issues. The one thing I really appreciated was when we encountered problems, they really listen to what I wanted and figured out how to make it work - even when it meant redoing something. We couldn't be happier with the entire process. In fact, we liked them so much, we just hired them to do our roof!

Exterior Qualities Home Improvement replaced our roof this last April, and I have to say that they exceeded my expectations. Mike Barney was very thorough with his sales presentation and his attention to detail far exceeded other contractors that came to bid the job. Furthermore, Exterior Qualities followed through in every detail that was presented in the contract to our satisfaction. There were some minor issues with flashing, and a shortage of materials, but the project was completed in a timely manner and to our complete satisfaction. Exterior Qualities even handled some minor gutter repairs that were not part of the contract as a courtesy. Mr. Barney communicated regularly throughout the process and kept us informed of scheduling issues and other changes. It was truly a pleasure to deal with someone who knows his trade and followed through with everything that was promised and more. I would recommend Exterior Qualities for your roofing and other home remodeling projects.

The quote wasn't bad but it took forever to get. They could have been more timely with the quote. He was only at our home one time for 15 or 20 minutes and that was fine and then the quote was emailed weeks later and there has been no follow up.

-Once again Exterior Qualities exceeded our expectations.

-The outside company that I went through that quoted me and hired Exterior Qualities, also miss-quoted the job.

-This company forgot to add the charge to remove dirt, level and landscape prior to installation of the deck.

-Exterior Qualities honored the price and absorbed that cost which had to be significant.

-In addition, their professional deck installer suggested some "layout" ideas prior to starting the job.  He took the time to meet with me and my wife and explained that we don't necessarily need to go horizontal or vertical.  We did it diagonal.  It looks SPECTACULAR.

-Based on this I've also hired Exterior Qualities to gut and re-do my entire master bathroom which will begin this January.

-So, I'm sure more positive reviews are on the way.

 -I would highly recommend Exterior Home Qualities.

-The work was done in a timely manner as promised with a professional staff employed full time by EHQ vs. having temps which made us feel great from the onset.

-The gate that they added is something out of the movie "Braveheart".  One would need a group of people and a battering ram to penetrate this bad boy.  It's sturdy and beautiful.

-I guess in short the work was done with Precision.  Timeliness.  Friendliness and Respect.  That means a lot to me. 

-And, working with great locally owned company makes it even that much better.

-Lastly-The owner Mike inspected to job in full to ensure it met our needs and to see too it that we were 100% satisfied.

-This company is now my official home improvement partner!

Complete tear off and new roof.  Large 42sq, roof, crew had 90% done in one day, then 2-3 guys came for next two days for clean up and finishing touches.
