I found the advertisement offering painting in the Westerville paper from Ray Dusenbury who came out to see the job. He said they were teachers & retired teachers that had painted all of Westerville & had been doing it for 40 years. He also said they liked people to watch them work & after asking some questions & talking for a while I thought he seemed professional & we agreed on July 10, 2010. There were a couple phone calls because of the weather & we weren't sure when the painting would begin, but would let me know when the weather premitted the job to start. On July 14th I came home from work and there was Dusenbury & another man in my yard. They had already painted up top and did some prep on the garage door. He said he did not let me know, just came over. I looked at the top trim as best as I could from the ground & could not see anything terribly wrong, but the paint was so close to the old color it was hard to tell. Dusenbury was back the next day with a different partner to finish & told me to come over around 11a.m. when they finished. When the paint dried I began to see just how bad the painting around the front door & door and the garage was and it is in the worst places, around the front door and the garage and I am not sure the paint is going to stay on and there is paint everywhere. There was no effort to stay within lines and long brush strokes in places not suppose to be painted, paint in all the cracks. All of the insides of the doors have missed brush strokes and are sticking when opened. Dusenbury told me it was mostly the paint job before and pretended not to see his bad painting which is most of the problem. He also told me some places that seem ok now might not be later and told me to call him. It is a really bad paint job, I could have did a much better job myself. When I asked if the paint could be cleaned off the siding and the seal of the garage door he said there is no way to get it off. I am worried it is going to affect the sale of my house and fault myself for not telling him to let me know he was coming so I could be there. Also, on the second day when the front was painted, the worst part, it seems there was no effort at all to do a good job. I am very dissatified and worried I might have to pay again see if there is any way I can at least get the front of the house restored in some way. Also, as for Dusenbury's comment that the other painters about eight years ago did a bad job, that was no excuse for him to do a bad job also, his was worse.
