C Roy Homes

It went well.  We were very appreciative of John Roy's efforts to stay in contact with us throughout and keep us informed about what was to transpire each day.  The length of time to finish the project was because of mis-ordered decorative tile that was not the fault of the contractor.  We highly recommend C. Roy Homes.

The project dragged on months longer than expected. While the quality is generally great (with a couple of exceptions), the haphazard communication and seeming lack of priority with many of the subcontractors was very frustrating. In the end it's a beautiful hearth room addition with a wooden ceiling, lots of windows and a nice stone fireplace, but the process, particularly lack of communication and missed timelines, has been painful.
I also notice in the other reviews that the clients with smaller jobs seem to be happier in their reviews. When you're paying almost six figures for a project the expectations for regular, clear communication are higher. The company seemed over-committed when we worked with them....it felt like they had too much going on to give our project the focus it needed.

Very good to work with. Excellent craftsmanship and results. Slow to finish, but isn't that true of everyone in this business. Would use them again.

The experience from start to finish went well. John and his wife Amy were very helpful to both my wife and me. The communication was excellent as we always knew what and when workers were to show up. This is the second time we have used John. The first was to finish our lower level and that went great as well. We have recommended John many times.

Met with John and told him what we wanted, in 2 weeks he was
back with a set of plans that was better than what we expected. We signed a
contract and per the contract the work should have been done in 3 months. John
says that due to the bad winter we had, things couldn’t get done when expected.
It took 9 months to finish. I also added a few things on that would have
extended the time but I really think it could have been done sooner. All-in-all,
he did good work but took just a little too long.

Initially we made an appointment with John Roy of C Roy Homes to give us an estimate to finish our basement along with 3 other A + rated remodelers from Angie's List. John was on time for our appointment and spent plenty of time listening to our ideas and goals for our basement project. He came back a few weeks later with a plan that met all our requirements but with a more creative and space efficient way of doing it. Right away we could see that his plan was better than what we had tried to imagine with our basement. His plan detailed additional options with the price broken out so we could pick and choose which additional options fit into our budget. John would give us schedules of when the workers would be here and what tasks would be completed by what date. He was on schedule and on budget. Incidentally, John's plan was the least expensive, most detailed, using the highest quality materials of any of the other estimates we received. We ending up using C Roy Homes due to the price and the thoroughness of his plan. We are very happy with the results.

John was on time and did exactly what he was supposed to do, even going above and beyond in a couple of instances. His crew was professional and did an excellent job. They weren't the cheapest estimate we received, but you get what you pay for.

Work was done on a timely basis. Quality of work was excellent. Problems were addressed immediately. I expected to be asked for additional money along the way. They never asked for an extra dime. I consider John to be the kind of guy who takes the high road all the time. You can trust him. If I have any other projects I would always go back to him.

We recently considered buying an investment property. We went to John for advice. He took time to help us with the decision. Even tho we did not go through with buying that property, we appreciate that John was willing to help us out.

We knew the owner as we had worked with him on another project. We had a good experience with them with the work that they had done on another home. They made sure that the work they did met our needs. They are a trusted company that performs high quality work. I would recommend them.

The quality of work was even better than expected. The project manager was readily available, stopped by almost every day to be sure everything was done correctly. They told that they would fix anything that we were not happy with and they did. We had a gutter that dripped and they kept working on it until it was fixed. We are delighted with the results and would not hesitate to recommend this builder to anyone. He keeps his promises and you can trust that he will do a good job. Everyone told me to expect the contractor to come back and ask for more money for things along the way. This never happened with John. We didn't pay an extra cent over the price we were quoted.
