The tech came out and found an internal fuse in compressor was blown. He replaced it for small fee. He did not try to sell us a new a/c even though our unit was 20 years old. Very helpful.

We were expecting a big problem. The tech cleaned the unit and it worked fine. He was very honest and efficient.

They came to my house on time but sat and waited in their truck while they got the proper sized water tank. Had they called me prior to that time I would have had the necessary information for them. When the water tank arrived they scratched the door to leading to the utility room to such an extent they had to send a contractor to repair the damage. It should be noted there was plenty of room to get the water tank in. Several months later gas fumes were coming from the water tank. Gas company came and shut off the gas. This was in the winter. I called their emergency and no answer. If they can't handle emergency calls they should not advertise that they have the service. I will never do business with this company again.

Claimed the furnace would be quieter, but it is much louder.  Worse, they installed the exhaust pipe so that the filter cannot be retrieved because it is blocked.  When called out to fix, they were a no show, no call.

Olmsted Heating and Cooling was part of a large group that installed our very poorly designed and shabbily installed geothermal system. I bear full responsibility, sadly, for having hired this shady operation. We have had multiple problems with the system and I have resorted to hiring a reputable company to fix the disastrous project we were left with. Ed Gross, President of Olmsted and Heating, made the mistake of pulling permits for some of the work but not being willing to close them out. Instead he informed the Shaker Building Department that NorthCoast Geothermal Inc. has left him with open permits on four separate occasions. After almost two years of asking Olmsted Heating and Cooling and NorthCoast Geothermal to please enclose the gas lines in my garage (a situation I was cited for), I reported Olmsted Heating and Cooling to the Ohio Attorney General's Office.  Instead of buckling down and just getting the work done, Mr. Gross wrote the AG's office that "the problems with the project and the liability are the result of other unregistered and unpermitted contractors, not Olmsted Heating and Cooling." Yet he allowed his company to take the permits out in his company's name. And I am left having to pay a second time to get the work finished.

"Yes we did do a portion of the member's project for a general contractor, we had no complaints from her for 2 years, all of the problems relating to her job was work not performed by Olmsted Heating & Cooling Inc. Her general contractor never pulled any permits , we were the only company who played by the rules, pulled permits, had inspections as required. She grew frustrated, and I do not blame her with her contractor who took short cuts, we replied to her complaint with the Attorney Generals office with our side of the story. None of the problems she states were related to OHC INC. Call the BBB and you will see in 17 years of buisness we have no open complaints"

First, the intake did not have protection or piping to prevent debris from entering the furnace; city inspector made me fix the problem prior to approving job completion. Called Olmsted Heating & Cooling to fix the problem, did not respond, and so I fixed it myself. They came to put together the metalwork for the vents, and it was after several weeks that we received our victorian vents back, with the work installed. Then the furnace stopped working. When a repairman came he explained the exhaust wasn't graded properly, and as a result there is sitting water built up in the exhaust line, causing the furnace to shut down. Called Olmsted H&C several times; a woman answered, said they would try to send someone out; a week later and more phone calls, stopped getting responses. Now I've given up on them and will be reporting this to the city, and looking elsewhere to fixing this furnace. What a mess! I am NOT laughing at the weather, as the website suggests!

The presentation sounded good but the two people he sent were horrible. They did not care about the quality of work; they were sloppy putting ductwork in my closet where my clothes used to go. The owner did try to make it right by throwing a humidifier. The work was not worth what we paid. We were having other done at the same time as the installation was going on, the other workers from the other companies were even commenting on how bad these guys were. It was very stressful and the owner was not even onsite to supervise the guys.

That was a huge scare so I had a second company our for a second opinion and they indicated that there was nothing wrong with my furnace, and it was even in good working condition. I was very upset that Olmsted gave me that scare and wouldn't use them for that reason.
Response from OLMSTED HEATING & COOLING
"It is our policy to use a digital carbon monoxide machine when checking furnaces, if the reading is above 100 ppm we will shut the unit off after cleaning. The customer can use the unit at their own risk because as a properly running unit usually should be below 40 ppm. Most of these units running high are units close to 20 years old and the heat exchangers are stressed and could crack releasing co into the home. We have cleaned furnaces for 20 years but, however some are just to dangerous to use anymore"
