I had pricing half their price from an internet moving company. I was told buy the sales person to be aware that you will have tons of issues with the low cost internet companies, the service will not be their, your items might night arrive on time if it arrives at all, and they will hit you with additional fee's. So we signed the contract for the move, with the understanding that the move need to be completed between December 27 and January 6th. we were told that would not be a problem. Mills finally picked up our items on December 20th, and it took 3 days to find out what the weight was and final price for the move. Mills did not put our items on a truck until January 1st (10 days later), which we were told would arrive on Saturday January 5th. This is where the move started to turn from bad to very bad. The truck that our items were on broke down, not once, not twice but three times. We had to spend a lot of additional money on airplane change fee's, and vacation time, etc. We called Allied to see if they would be willing to give us a discount off our move, but they refused to, saying they do not cover truck breakdowns. after further digging, allied used to have breakdown insurance, but got ride of it. I guess for a penny pinching company to get ride of an insurance policy to help their customers when their equipment is not working make since for them. think about it, how many people move a few states over, multiple times in their lives. if you have an issue and you p*** off one or two customers no big deal, they just saved on an insurance policy, and you are considered in the companies view a no repeat customer.
The 3rd and final break down was about 150 miles away, after about 6 phone calls on Monday January 12 they rented a U-Haul and delivered our items. The sales person said that he would follow up and never did, I had to call him to find out what was going on, and most of the time they are working on the truck. The sales person did not even know that the truck broke down a third time. I could go on and on regarding this move, with dates, and lack of communication from this company, but it will not change the fact that I over spent, for an horrible service. If you are looking for a moving company please ask about what would happen if there is a truck break down, and if they do or do not have insurance coverage for a breakdown.
