I would not recommend retaining this company for any service. They perform a very poor quality of work. Damaged the marble floors, broke tile, failed to complete the items I was charged for, and left everything a total mess. I am having another company come in to start over AND repair the damage that was done by Smith Metal & Marble. Also, he is very unprofessional and rude.

Excellent professional work

Our kitchen counter tops were only one and a half years old but they were already dull and an edge was chipped. We contacted the installer, National Design Mart of Medina and discovered they don't seal their granite. That's when we called Smith Metal & Marble Restoration. Stuart Smith did the estimate and the service. He is experienced, knowledgeable, courteous, and a true professional. Stuart repaired the chip so that it is undistinguishable, polished the granite, and sealed it. The counters looked immediately new like they should have looked all along. He also caulked our under mount sink to prevent water from seeping under the granite. We highly recommend Smith Metal & Marble Restoration. Don't bother looking anywhere else!

I called Stuart for an estimate and sent him a picture of my granite chip which was about the size of a dime on the rounded edge of my kitchen island. He was quick to respond with a pricing estimate of $250. You see all sorts of do-it-yourself kits on Amazon and other online retailers for less money, so I thought about trying it myself. After seeing Stuart and all that he did to get the repair finish perfect, I knew that I made the correct decision hiring him. He not only used an epoxy to fix the substantial chip, but he also had the proper equipment to sand, polish and color-blend so that the repair was perfectly blended into the granite. While he was here, he also mentioned that homeowners need to replace the caulking around their granite in the sink every 2-5 years depending on wear. He offered to replace mine for $50 and I thought it was a reasonable price. Thus, my total was $300 and I am very pleased with the work that was performed. I highly recommend Stuart and his company.

He arrived on time and was very thorough. He took his time and never rushed.

The area looks great.  It is very hard to find someone who can do this type of work and I was happy to have found him. It is expensive, but the work is specialized and very labor intensive.  I would use his service again in the future.

Our black granite tops are 13 yrs old.  They have become very dull; especially the desk area; due to its constant use.  There were rubber feet marks on the granite from my mixer and food processor.  We have  done constant cleaning with water and towel drying.  No accidents of any kind.
We Called Stuart Smith to make an appt. .   Our call was promptly returned.  We had a meeting that went fine.  Understood what he said and answered all our questions.  We received a written quote outling the work and cost.
Stuart arrived on time.  He applied tape around the range and kitchen sink faucets.  He covered the floors with clean drop cloths.  
The work took a few hours to complete.
We couldn't be happier.  Counter tops look brand new!
.He did everything he said he would.  His new grount looks better that what the builder used.
A few years ago, we had a full bath installed in our basement.  The tile man left us with two problems.  He did NOT apply a bead of sealer at the top of the tile shower stall.   And one corner of a tile wall had no grout at all.  Stuart fixed both problems.  
Smith Marble Restoration possess honesty, integrity and professionelism.  I almost do not know how to react when a business treats me this way.   We are used to be treated as "Billing Dollars Only"  in our daily  routine.

Stuart has finished the work for us and it is pristine and very detailed!  He is very trustworthy.   The price was great and it looks brand new.  He went above and beyond.  He even left a can of polish for us.  I would highly recommend him and whoever uses him will be shocked at how great the work is.

Most of the first floor of our mid-century colonial home is a white terrazzo, with off white marble and gold flecks.  The flooring had a fair amount of wear and some wax on it, and looked very dull and dirty, no matter how many times we cleaned the floor.  I contacted Stuart to look at the floor and give us a bid.
He described the process that he used and why it was the correct way to refinish terrazzo.  I didn't know too much about terrazzo, but had done some research and everything that he said made sense (in a former career, I was a cabinetmaker and craftsman, so I had some knowledge of working with natural materials and my dad worked with granite in his business) and resonated with my research.  He downplayed the difference that we would see in the floor (he said that our floor was in relatively decent, condition, just needed some honing and polish).  Frankly, the end result was, to my eye, a dramatic improvement in the floor.  It went from dull and yellowish to a mirror finish and a clean white.  It actually made the entire space feel brighter and cleaner.
The process took the entire week.  Stuart and his helper began by carefully putting up plastic sheeting to protect the baseboard and walls.  The first hone was done with a relatively coarse grit diamond disk, followed by finer and finer grits (just like sanding and finishing wood).  I don't remember exactly what the final grit was, but it was on the order of 800 or 1600, super fine.  Then the last step was to buff on a high polish.  This removed any fine swirl marks and left the floors looking like a mirror.
Stuart was always punctual or let me know ahead of time if there was going to be a delay.  Everything was done in a workmanlike manner.  He was willing to go the extra mile to make the floor as perfect as possible, without regard to time.  I truly appreciated his work ethic, very old school (I mean that in the very best way).
He also told us the best way to maintain the floor and that in 1 or 2 years we would probably need to have it polished again, to maintain the high shine.  He also did a polish and detail to some of the granite in our kitchen that had some visible wear.  Just like the floor, he did a great job on the granite.  All in all, we are very happy with the work and the finished product.  I highly recommend Stuart for your marble, granite, and terrazzo flooring and counters.  
Only reason I put the price as a 'B' was because it was expensive.  You may find someone that will quote a cheaper price, but I don't think that you'll get the same quality work nor the attention to detail.

Stuart came to give me an estimate several weeks before the service. He was prompt and professional. We scheduled a date for him to hone and polish the marble installed in my foyer and back hallway. He was prompt for the service appointment, and completed the main job in one day. I have a large amount of marble in my lower level. He said the the marble was dull from normal wear and tear. When he finished, the marble was gorgeous. He came back the next day to caulk some areas where the grout had failed. Stuart and I discussed ways to reduce wear on the floor because I live with two large dogs. He was also great with my dogs. I plan on having him come regularly to maintain the floor.

on time for doing the estimate, even did a small sample on the floor so I could see what it would look like. on time for the actual cleaning - very professional. Completed in a timely manner and made sure everything was back in it's place before leaving.

I think my grades of excellent for every category says it all.
