I wasn't home when they did it but my wife said they were very professional and asked for her input where they had questions.  They actually did a little more than I expected them to do which was very nice - exceed your customer's expectations!

Overall, a very good experience.  I would have no problem recommending them and plan to use them in the futue.

Initially came out and did work earlier then I expected when I was not in town which was a pleasant surprise.When I returned I asked them to come back and "complete" the job according to my expectations. John was very professional and sent 2 men the very next day. The work they did was excellent. I would definitely use them in the future. I felt their price was reasonable. Communication was great, always got back with me in a timely manner.

Although there were some communication problems with this Company, the work performed was excellent, and that is all that matters.  Would recommend Purcellscapes, they do a GREAT job!!

This was a two-day process.  Day one was the spring clean-up and they did a great job cleaning up and hauling away all of the leaves, twigs and branches that littered my property.   Day two was spent edging all of my flower beds and then installing 18 yards of very nice double-shredded mulch, most of it in my backyard, so it was an arduous, time-consuming process filling and trundling countless wheel barrows filled with mulch thoughout several large areas in my yard, the largest (my dogs' "racetrack") approximately 90' long by 10' wide.  John and his crew of two were tireless and very meticulous in distributing the mulch, especially in the flower beds in my front yard, even using their hands to scoop up and place the mulch around my plants.   This was my first experience with Purcellscapes and I'm so pleased with the outcome that I plan on using them for all of my future landscaping needs.

They did a great job.  They came and provided a prompt estimate for the work that we requested as well as some other long term projects.  Written estimate allowed up to decide what we wanted done now vs. in the future.  We were able to schedule time for them to do the work within a few days.  They planned to come one morning, called to say they were running just a bit late, but arrived soon after (appreciated the notice that they were running late, even though we were not home).  They called while doing the work to clarify something.  Did the work as agreed.  They were very careful to work around the flowers in the flower bed.  They cleaned up a big giant mess behind the garage (overgrown area).  Two months later and it still looks great.

I paid for the 8 hours of yardwork deal that was on Angie's List.  After purchasing the deal, I waited a week for Purcellscapes to get in touch with me.  Nothing.  After many attempts at trying to get in contact with them to come out to my home, I finally got in touch with the owner, John Purcell, and he came over to inspect my yard and go over the work I wanted done.  He seemed reassuring that the job would be done.
After finally scheduling a date for the work to be completed, I sent John an e-mail with pictures and detailed descriptions to remind him of the areas I wanted to be taken care of since I was not completely confident that he remembered, as he did not write anything down when he came to meet me. 
When I came home from work, I saw that the unwanted garden growth had indeed been removed (most of it anyway), and the dead grass covered areas of my yard had been treated with soil, seed, and straw.
Flash forward to about a month and a half later, and the dead grass areas look terrible.  I followed John's watering and care instructions, but the grass has barely grown in, and the straw in some of the areas has barely decomposed.  One area still looks very similar to the day he and his crew came to put all of this stuff down.  The worst part is that I paid an extra $160 for the soil, seed, and straw that he used.  Extremely disappointing.
I went with Purcellscapes based on the positive reviews I saw on Angie's List.  This is the only time I have been burned by a company from here.  While I was happy overall with the garden growth removal, I would definitely not hire Purcellscapes again.  I feel like I got robbed.

Did exactly what I asked finished all in pre- purchased time

I purchased the lawn work on April 21, 2014, I chose 3 dates as requested and waited. The 3 dates passed and I called to see what was happening. John hadn't look at his Angie's list. He said he was very busy. I asked when he could do the work? The response was in a couple of weeks at worst May 19th. On May 19th I called again. John hadn't looked at his list but we were not on the schedule.  I responed that I needed this done sooner rather than later as the grass had not been cut at all.  He said he would check and call us. He did call back and came over the same day.  The work done was good.

 John was very professional as he introduced himself to my husband and me.  He looked at the front and back yard and wrote  detailed notes.  We also needed 2 small pine trees cut down. John said he would e-mail me the estimate.  We still had some leaves on our Huge Maple trees.   Within a week,  after snow, wind and rain John and his partner were at our house for leaf removal.  Our yard has never been so clean at this time of the year. The pine trees were cut down and removed from our lawn.  I  would highly recommend PURCELLSCAPES   for any yard needs.  The company represents itself as true  professionals  and has  the best equipment for doing the job.  We are thinking of a full  time service for next year.

John Purcell and Purcellscapes did a wonderful job cleaning up my yard.  I have every intention of calling them back in the spring to install a front porch and patio and perhaps a back patio as well. Even though some of the work was done while I was at work, it was obvious that John had listened to my thoughts about what was important to me with the landscaping.  I never felt like I had to be home to "supervise."  Kudos to John and Purcellscapes.

Last spring, John and I discussed what I wanted in terms of a new perennial bed including location, size and shape and soil content. Since I don't plan to plant the bed until next spring, we agreed to schedule the work for the fall. We communicated about it on and off over the summer. John and his helper removed the sod, edged the bed and covered it with about 7" of a mix of topsoil and amendments, including the leaf humus I requested. The bed is beautiful!

John also mows our lawn. He does a great job. We are especially pleased with his attention to details like trimming around our raised beds and woodpile.

The job stretched out over 3 days. The first day one of the guys pulled out some of my perennials thinking they were weeds. The second day only one guy showed up to do all the mulching so it took him 2 days to do it. The pruning was okay on some of the shrubs but not enough on others. They did dig out some older shrubs for me that I wanted to get rid of and that wasn't originally part of the job. We had also set up to do another project at a later date, but decided to use another company for it instead. Although the price was reasonable, we weren't very pleased with the overall quality of work, lack of professionalism, and the fact that there didn't seem to be enough workers on staff to get the job done quickly.

It went good. They were pretty quick to getting back to us. We're happy with the price that we ended up. We will use them in the future.

We met with John the previous week to look at out yard and get an estimate for spring clean up and mowing in 2013. We also contacted with him to remove a large brush pile in our yard. John took care of that within a couple of days, as promised. He was thorough and removed everything, including some treated 4x4 that have to be disposed of in a special manner.

I called 5 companies for quotes on putting down mulch and edging.   Purcellscapes was the first to return my call and was by far the best price.  They even came out the next day!  The job was done quickly and professionally and everything was cleaned up when they finished.  I would definitely recommend this company.

Although the work was split up over a couple of Saturdays and took a while, PurcellScapes did a great job at a very fair price. The beds were sharply edged, John spayed the weds and did a great job of carefully spreading the mulch over some difficult terrain. After doing this yard myself for more than 15 years, I know full well how tough it is to mulch the terraces and slopes. He did a great job overall.

I've also had them doing the weekly mowing. After going through 3 other companies In the past two years, I've finally found a company that actually shows up once a week and does a good job for a fair price.
