They responded the same day and replaced the spring. While they were here they tuned up/lubricated door and noticed weatherstripping was torn - so replaced that, as well.

They fixed the cable and also lubricated another garage door (a manual door) so it was easier to lift up. We were very pleased with their friendliness and service.

Actually the entire process from getting an estimate to completing the installation went extremely well. Estimate was accurate and the installer arrived on time and completed the installation as they said he would (actually he was 20 minutes early the day of installation).  Most certainly would recommend!!

We were leaving for vacation the following day and the spring on our garage door opener broke that morning.  I called Oakes Door Service, who had worked on our doors previously, and asked if they could repair the door since I couldn't open it.  They said they were all booked up  for days but because we were leaving on vacation, they said they could squeeze us in late that afternoon.  The repairman came as promised and replaced the spring on the door.

Oakes stands behind their work! They replaced springs on several of our doors over the past two years. Today, they spent an hour here at no-charge to resolve a problem stemming from one of the replacements six months ago. I called them last night, and they were here at 9:00AM today. Communication is also great. They called in advance to let me know that they were on their way. Good customer service goes a long way and Oakes earns an A+ in my book.

Oakes gave us a price to replace the torsion spring that broke and a price to replace both torsion springs since the other one was the same age as the one that broke. We decided to have them both replaced. When the torsion spring broke and the garage door slammed closed, the bottom supports detached. He fixed those at no extra cost and lubricated the rollers also. Now our garage door is much more quiet. He was very punctual and professional. We would definitely recommend them to everyone and use them again ourselves.

The project was to use all new equipment except for garage door rail. The installers complied with this except they reused all the existing wiring. I did not make them re-wire with new wiring. No installer should smoke in someone's house even if it is the garage. Everyone at Oakes responded very quickly. I understand from some other neighbors that their Service Dept. is excellent. The Installation Dept. is not quite as good. I've never used the Service Dept. for a repair so I can't comment on them. They did respond quickly to look at damaged existing door and the their Tech and I decided that a new door and opener would be best. They were quick to schedule the install of the new door and opener and quick to get the work done. Clean up was good and they took away all the old parts and pieces. Last year, in another city, I had a new door installed by a different company. That company installed a vinyl covering on all the exterior wood trim around the outside of the door to minimize maintenance (no painting). I thought I'd get the same finish work with this door. When I asked the installer about it he said and quot;it's wood paint itand quot;. This was my fault since I didn't get it spelled out in the purchase order. All in all, I'd recommend them. They are definitely above average and close to excellent but not quite there on my project.

The garage door was dented; they removed the dent then placed the door back on its tract. The job went very well. They were on time efficient and very flexible.

Broke a torsion spring and screw-drive carriage. Called in the morning and got a quote of $200 plus the cost of the carriage ($18). I went ahead with the work since I needed it done quickly and could not spare the time to do it myself. They arrived the same afternoon with all the parts needed and replaced both torsion springs (at my request) and the carriage for the quoted price. Removal of old springs and installation of new springs and carriage took about half an hour.
I felt the cost of labor was a touch high since the springs retail for about $50 for a pair and the carriage costs about $15 -- $150 to $175 seems like a more reasonable range. Nevertheless, they were very responsive, efficient, and did a good job. I would use them again if needed.

We purchased the house in September and knew that the garage door was original, didn't seal and needed replaced. Several times when the weather was single digit the opener would groan and the door wouldn't open. We suspected the opener needed replaced also. When Oakes came out to give us an estimate they told us the opener was fine and just needed greased. Also the new steel door wouldn't be as heavy as the wood door and would open easier. He was right. The door opens easily and quiet. I really appreciate the honesty as they could have easily sold us an opener we didn't need. We used them before and would use them again.

My garage door would not open. I called Oakes Door Service and they came out the next day, when they said they would, and called before coming out. Turned out to be a broken spring, which he promptly replaced. He went over the door and replaced a broken hinge, oiled/greased? the tracks, and made sure it was in good working order. The door operates more quietly now. He answered all my questions and solved a problem I had wondered about. I will be calling them again in the near future.
