Anyone looking should look no further as these guys rock. We have shared with 3 of our friends and each used and were happy as well.
Rare find to have a place exceed our expectations.
I had dealt with Page's about 8 years ago and had a good experience, so I went back to them in September to order new flooring to be installed while I was out of town in October. The day before I left town I called the salesperson, Ron, to make sure we were on schedule. He said the flooring and quot;never came in.and quot; I have no idea why he didn't tell me this on his own. I was just glad I called him before unloading all my bookcases and moving breakables out of the rooms to be done. I cancelled the order and decided to do more shopping after the holidays.
In December Ron called and said the flooring had suddenly appeared on their loading dock. Did I want it? Since I hadn't bought anything else yet and would be out of town again in January, I said okay. January came and when we returned to town the flooring was in. About 20 of the boards had pencil markings on them, lots of markings, presumably from the installers noting where to saw them. The boards were also not flat, which my wife and I both expected, but had a grooved or scraped finish to them.
The next day I visited the store and looked at the small sample we had based our purchase on. Held up to a window I could see it had the same grooves, so I guess I was stuck. Oh well, they would grow on me. A salesperson came up while I was holding the sample at eye level in front of a window. We discussed the grooves; he said he usually pointed the grooved finish out to his customers and wished my salesperson had mentioned it too. I told him about all the marks on the boards and he called Ron while I was standing there, reporting to me that Ron would take care of it. Since the marks were a small issue and I'd had no problem with this vendor before, I paid my bill in full.
Over the next week I placed three calls to Ron to get my work completed. The first two calls I left a detailed voice message and got no response. The third call I used another phone which I hoped wouldn't show up as me in Ron's Caller ID. He answered right away, giving the excuse he'd been in Michigan and couldn't return calls (!). We made an appointment to get the marks taken care of. I mentioned to him that with future customers he might mention the finish grooves in case they didn't see them; I did not make this a complaint, just a suggestion for future customer happiness. He gave a very defensive response that I'd seen a sample and it was too bad if I didn't like the flooring. I had made no complaint and was coming to like the flooring in fact, so I can only wonder if Ron's had a lot of problems lately with unsatisfied customers.
Two men came the next day and cleaned up the pencil marks in about 20 minutes. They could not clean some of the marks and said they were flaws in the wood that the installer and quot;should have seen and used another plank.and quot; But the installer didn't see the flaws and no one offered to come back in and replace the problem boards. At this point it wasn't worth fighting.
Maybe we were unlucky but Page's service wasn't what it used to be. These people can do good work and their prices are reasonable, but don't give them a dime until you are 100% satisfied.
"[member name removed], We are sad that you were dis-appointed and was un-able to completely resolve your issue. When you placed your order it was on back order at that time, we did not even get a deposit due to the un certainty of trying to meet your October desired install time. When it became available to us, after you had cancelled, we called and you agreed to go ahead and do in January while you were out of town. Only after complete and you got back to town did we collect our invoice. I am sorry you did not like your selection, but the sample you looked at each time was 20" x 30", also hand scraped wood has various markings that are normal and sorry it took til the next week to wipe off the pencil marks, but Ron and our crews were in Oscada, MI doing training and Ron did not carry his mobile phone into the training classes, Ron was not avoiding your calls. After he returned and spoke with you, the crew came out the next day. I am glad to know that you are liking it better now."
