Lowe's subcontracted roof work to Mountain State who subcontracted the actual job to a transient work group from out of state.
Lowes representative inspected my roof on site , gave cost estimate of work. No discussion took place about anything other than roof replacement.
Equipment and supplies storage area were in disarray throughout ... to end of project. Job was incomplete during period of rain but temporary covering worked ... Fortunately, it was not a windy , hard rain episode.
Work Team broke outside oven exhaust cover, displaced gutter on front of house and failed to cut / trim roofing overhang until pointed out to supervisor.
Had to call back to replace vent cover and trim roofing. Did not discover displaced gutter until first large rain downpour when water gushed off roof down front of house like waterfall. Had gutter replaced by another vendor who indicated gutter had been displaced and then pushed back into place without fastening adequately. It worked for a while but because gutter was broken it was at best a temporary fix.
Also discovered Team failed to adequately seal roof skylights via rain leak. Called job supervisor who informed me my warranty on the work had lapsed and I should have replaced skylights at the same time as I replaced the roof. I requested assistance and did not get a call back or a site visit.
Had another vendor inspect roof skylights and found them to be in good shape. Skylights have been re - sealed with no additional problems.

The company responded to my request for a bid quickly. They came when they said they would. The price was very fair and competitive with the best prices I had received elsewhere. Based upon the reviews at Angie's List I chose Mountain State Renovations to do the job.
The job was done well and timely. The crew was very capable, knowledgeable and very easy to work with. We made a running change on one corner of the house that involved some extra work on their part - no problem. The workmanship was excellent. The end product was better than the original on the house. They found a couple of problem areas near the gutters and fixed them as they said they would - no charge.
I cannot recommend them enough. They were a truly professional group to deal with, a pleasure to work with, and the end product was simply excellent.

They came out and gave me a bid. There was a misunderstanding about insulating the garage area. But they came back and did it after I told them that it was my understanding that the attached garage would be insulated too.

They finally arrived to replace roof. The guys worked quickly.
I am happy with the overall work, but they left marks on my siding and wall where they threw the old roof down. I spoke to them about it, and they did attempt to clean off the marks. The marks were better , but even after a power wash, there is still evidence of marks.
The company also replaced the gutters and down spouts-no real issues-they look great, as does the roof.

Was needing gutter/siding/soffitt work done. Had a hard time trying to fit my schedule around those that needed to do an estimate. Mountain State came out on a Saturday and was great. The gentleman was very professional and gave me suggestions on what was needed to fix the problems. Stayed for about an hour to access what was needed and stated would return in about a week with estimate of costs. Its 6 weeks later................. Have not heard from anyone from Mountain State Renovatons...

They were the last of 6 contractors which I interviewed so by then I had focused questions to ask to compare with others. The owner (who has over 30 years of experience in roofing) talked to me for around 2 hours and went into great detail and laid out the specifics of what they would do. They have a track record of high quality, including recently winning a national contest from Owens Corning for the nation's prettiest roof. They approach roofing with a very systematic methodology. As a preferred contractor for Owens Corning, they use their products and follow their required procedures so that they can offer a 50 year transferable warranty for the roof through Owens Corning. I have not heard of any similar warranties from others.
My roof was a little more complex in shape than typical, meaning that it required more materials than some (44 squares) and they use very high end products. They did my house in 3 days (4 had been estimated), arrived on time. Crew size varied from 4 to 7 workers each day. My father (who has had 3 roofs worked on for his house) was present throughout their work and said that they worked as a coordinated team, were always extremely professional (he said that he never heard a single complaint or even a swear word amongst them). He said that they were very hard workers and the best roofing crew that he had ever seen.
As I mentioned above, I had an issue with some shingles of my old roof being blown off before they could start on my job and they promptly took care of it without any hassles for me. I was very reassured that I had made the right choice after seeing how conscientious they were.
They seem to be in demand and I had to wait about a month to have them do my job, but they were worth the wait. They said some seasons on the year are busier for them (mine was in March) and sometimes waits can be significantly longer so you would want to factor that in if you had a time deadline or needed a rush job. Price-wise all of the 6 contractors that I interviewed were relatively close ranging from $12,900 to $14,300. They were the highest, but I had been given a ValuPak coupon by a friend, knocking off 10% and actually making them the cheapest. I found their price extremely good compared to others, especially as they used more expensive materials. They have my strongest recommendation.

The project went well from begiinng to end with the exception of weather delays. Mountain State Renovations performed the project of
removing our old roof and installing a new roof exactly as promised. The roofing crew and the office personnel were all professional in every aspect of the project. Jamie Starr and the other members of the roofing crew represented their company well and performed a job well done. They did an excellent job of cleaning up when they finished the job and other than we have a new roof on our house you would not know a fairly significant project had been performed at our home. I would not hesitate to use Mountain State Renovations in the future.

Phil and MT State Renovations installed my new roof for a very reasonable price. Phil communicated clearly what he was offering. He visited my home at the scheduled time and was ready with all the information I needed. He had all of his credentials and references and answered all of my questions.
His sub-contracted crew did an outstanding job. They arrived at 8 am and left by 3 pm. They were very courteous and professional. I watched them work for five minutes and realized that an experienced crew was installing my roof.

Most important - I have a relatively small house with a very simple roof. Two other companies quoted me prices much, much higher than Phil. He conceded that installing the roof would be relatively straightforward, a fact that was reflected in the price.

I didn't go with them because the estimate was very high. The estimated price was $14,000. The guy who came out was nice. I think he very much overestimated the number. I think it is called squares of roofing that I need; he said I needed like maybe six more than every other company that I got an estimate from said. I thought there was something odd about that and his price was about $6000 more than the company that I ended up going with. I would give him a ‘C' on my overall experience based on their price but the guy who came out was nice and he showed up which is better than half the contractors who I call. He was punctual; he came on time. I would consider using them but I would be a little weary about the estimate because he did tell me I needed more shingles than what every other company said.

They were here about three weeks ago. Everything went pretty well and I didn't have any issues. They came out and did the job. They completed it in one day. They cleaned up real well. I really couldn't tell anyone had been here by the time they left. I have nothing bad to say about them. Compared to other people their price seemed to be pretty consistent.

Arranged for estimate at local home show and had someone on site within about two weeks. The estimate was pretty involved and included a full education system so we could make an informed decision about what we needed (and what we didn't) and allowed us to ask intelligent questions of Mountain State's competitors. We hired Mountain State and set a date for the work to begin, but received a call offering to begin the work earlier than planned. Once we agreed, work started soon after and the job was done and the work site cleaned up pretty quickly. All said, we're happy with the timing and communication (which we've struggled with in the past with other contractors) and are happy with the final product. We would recommend Mountain State Renovations based on this experience and may utilize them in the future for other jobs.
