Plumber arrived at 2:45 smelled horrible like smoke did not cover his shoes tracked water all over my newly refinished hardwood floors. I explained to him that I wanted a shorter gas pipe run for gas stove connection. There already was a line there but stub out was too long. What he did instead was cut pipe iand called it in basement, he claimed this was the most cost efficient way to do this. It would have taken him 5 extra minutes to run the line to the appropriate height. He looked at the drain Assessed that the steel pipe going into the floor drain was the problem and needed to be replaced. Hence why I'm not sure if he even snaked the drain as there would have been no need too since it was leaking from side of pipe. Upon paying him for services I was floored by their bill and extra charges, I feel that they should tell the customer first what they are charging before they supposedly pull out their equipment ie service call charge, environment charge and snake equipment charge.

Call center people were VERY frustrating - I called 2 minutes before they were about to roll over to their emergency service procedure and she basically didn't want to help me - wanted me to call back in 2 minutes. She shouldn't have bothered to pick up the phone. It was so annoying I tried another company, but then I did call the service and all that worked very well.

I called the company a week before service was actually performed. Gave a description of the problem that included the make of the toilet (Mansfield, not a usual build) and what parts weren't working correctly. Service was scheduled for Thursday, but they said that it might need to be Friday depending on how the previously scheduled Thursday slots were filled. No prob. Nothing on Thursday. Waited all day Friday, they finally called at 3pm and said and quot;Sorry, it's going to need to be Mondayand quot;. Showed up on Monday, took them to the toilet, and then they said they would need to go get parts. ???? Service man left to go get parts and didn't come back for a half an hour or more. Then he said he had to go to two stores to get the parts. When he got back, he performed the fix (which was fine) and gave me a bill for $171. I was shocked, because I previously had Vanderwist come out and install a new toilet AND flush out my furnace's drain line and I think the total bill was about $170.

I questioned the bill and he said $49 was for parts (which I saw cheaper at our local hardware store) $45 was for the service call (which was 1-4 days late depending on how you look at it) and the rest for 1 hour of labor (which apparently included him driving to 2 different stores). Why didn't he have the parts needed on the truck when I told them the make and the problem???? Ditto on going to two different stores. I felt ripped off, and can't blame the service guy, because it might have been that dispatch never gave him the info on the make and problem - but they should have.

I'm not going to deal with them ever again. They came back on 11 August and gave me some cock and bull story on how they were going to charge me more for something else. They were fairly good except that they were highly priced. I kind of suspected that they were milking or whatever. Like for $500 the guy came to check the air conditioner and he did not have Freon and he charged me for the time he went to get Freon. It just struck me that time that he would not come prepared. He charged me for the time he went to get supplies and that really annoyed me. Little things from the past were kind of building up to just drop them. Air conditioner units started working after two weeks and he kept doing vandals. When I called and complained and told them what happened, they did not bill me for the second service call. They told me another story and since I had paid $500 it was kind of difficult to take that too. They were pretty punctual. I would never use them in the future.

They are very good but they are very expensive. When they're done with the job, they don't have to come back. I don't like that they are expensive but I like that they come when I need them. When you have plumbing problems or like the last couple of days it was so hot, I called and they came right away. I appreciate that. I've been using them for 30 years.

He searched thoroughly for the leak but was unable to locate it. This including running shower, flushing toilet, cutting several holes in kitchen drywall ceiling to inspect pipes, and going into the attic to look for any possible roof leaks. Spent 2-3 hours. Told us it would probably recur. Since the leak didn't recur and we were ready to repair the ceiling drywall - patch and repaint - we investigated further on our own and were able to reproduce the leak by pouring water through a gap in the floor and shower enclosure where the caulk/grout had separated. My only criticism of his service was that I think he probably should have found this potential source of water leakage - a 1/4 inch gap.

the company came and fixed the "current" broken hose; it took the repairman less than five minutes but was not something I could have known to do or would have had the part. I had gotten up the water that had accumulated on my furnace room floor, and I hope that the humidifier will work without further problems. I had many good, though expensive, years with Vanderwist but am now finished. I am perusing Angie's list for service in my area. Vanderwist did not charge me to replace the piece of broken hose. I have no further requests of Vanderwist. I am not going to use their services again because, from my point of view, though the work they have done at my house has mostly been fine (and the service people and "Pete" have been very nice), the costs have begun to seem excessive and the "hassle factor" has become more than I want to do anymore. The summary above is correct from my point of view. They worked at my house over a long time and I am sorry to come to the decision that I will not call them again.

I believe they did a good job. My husband had worked with them in the past and they did a good job so he already knew they did quality work. They were here quickly and they got everything done in a day; they were fantastic. I was very happy with everything that they did.

They are my heating, A/C, and plumbing people. I am happy with them. They are expensive. They come when they come, and they don't have to come bakc. They are smart. They can fix old toilets, so you don't have to buy a new one. It was a difficult job. It's expensive, but they had to take them in pieces through the attic.

Vanderwist Plumbing Heating is wonderful. They are very good and very dependable. They are very nice to work with. When they came out to do the work, they were on time. They did what they said they would do. They cleaned up well. Their pricing was average. I have worked with these people for years and they haven’t done anything bad. If I have a problem, they’ll come right out. Vanderwist Plumbing Heating is a good company.

Working with this company was a very positive experience. Now when I have problems with things, whether they did it or not, I call them in and they fix it. When I checked around for pricing their pricing was normal compared to everyone else.

BEWARE! Plumber couldn't quote me an exact price and wanted to come back and just do the work and bill me accordingly when done. I said no and asked him to give me a solid quote for the work and was told that ''due to part of the wall needing to be cut and enlarging the tile in the shower this job would take 4 hours''. The quote was $490. I agreed as my shower was leaking badly and I needed this done quickly. The one caveat was I did not want to lose volume or pressure in the shower. First, there was no cutting of the wall nor enlarging anything. Next, the flow was severely decreased, so I called the owner of the company and said I have a problem. He sends the Jr. guy back out who says 'sorry' nothing we can do, the new valve doesn't let as much volume through, that's mandated by congress''. I pointed out that typically that is the shower head not valve and that I need this rectified. They told me to contact Moen and see if they can help. Again, beware..get another quote.

I CALLED THE COMPANY AROUND 9:00 IN THE MORNING AND THEY ARRIVED WITH THE NEW WATER HEATER AROUND 11:15. THEY WERE DONE BY 1:30. I DID NOT COMPARISON SHOP SO I CAN'T COMMENT ON PRICE. THE ONLY SEMI-NEGATIVE COMMENT IS THEY COULD HAVE SWEPT UP AFTER THE COMPLETED THE INSTALLATION.
