Extreme Slate Roofing

Each time I've called Jeno at Extreme Slate he's gotten back to me the same day. I've received estimates for each request I've made within a day or two. Typically the work I've requested has been completed within a week or two, depending on weather. I have been very pleased with his work and would recommend him to any of my friends who have aging slate roofs.

Project went well. Extreme Slate has worked on my 1940's slate roof three times now, with great results every time.

I am very disapointed. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

Everything they have done for me has been excellent. They imported gutters from Finland, half-round gutters for me. The gutters are just great and really strong . The gutters are the best I have seen. They do fabulous work whether slate, copper, or masonry.

They were excellent. I would recommend them to others.

Do not under any circumstances use this company. They do not stand behind their warranty, and they have caused significant damage to my house.

they came and did an estimate. it took a bit longer than I had hoped to get them to come to do the actual work. The work so far has held up well. The only thing that I did not like was that their work caused a great deal of roof material to drop into our unfinished attic and this was not cleaned up. Otherwise they did a good job with the work and seemed to know what they were doing. I would recommend them.

Very responsive and professional. Came immeditely to fix a leak that was causing damage in our home and then came back later to do the flashing work.

Even though it did not solve our problem, for what he did do he was very nice. I thought the qualilty of his work was fine and he was able to come a day or two after he was contacted. He was a friend of the guy who put in our windows so that is how we found him. I did send him an email after the work and have not received a reply. Not many people work with copper roofs so if he had an issue in the future we would use him again.

They did a very good job. Actually, they worked when we were on vacation and when we came back all the roofing problems were fixed and it was like they were not there. They repaired what they needed to repair.

Workers came as promised, did neat, clean job,hauled away all old matrial and cleaned up completely when finished. I was totally. pleased.

I had my estimate done one day and within two days work had begun on my roof! There was no waiting, the workmen started early and worked late into the evening every day. They all worked extremely hard, were very professional and friendly and cleaned up after themselves as they worked. I'm impressed by the work ethic displayed and the quality of the work done.

Our experience with this company from start to finish was excellent! Jeno and his partner Karoly were a pleasure to work with. They were extremely courteous and professional. They took the time to explain everything and made sure the job was done right. Their crew was great and also very friendly! They showed up everyday on time until the job was completed and never left a mess. The job site was always left immaculate. We have had some bad experiences with other slate roofing companies in the past, and Extreme Slate exceeded our expectations. I will only use this company to care for my roof from now on. They are a 5 star operation!

Jeno came when he said he would. He and his partner spent a long time examining the house inside and out to determine what needed to be done. They presented us with a detailed estimate and broke it down into parts as we asked him to. We agreed to move forward with the work. Once the work started, it took over two weeks. We were impressed by both the craftsmanship and the work ethic, including a daily clean-up so that there was no mess anywhere when they left each day. The gutters look beautiful and they were able to match the exact color/shingles of the roof. We couldn't be happier with Extreme Slate Roofing's work and professional attitude and communications.

Mr. Kempf was given $5000.00 to start. The workers started by tossing material off the roof, onto the ground, tearing a screen and damaging the trim parts of a window. The large screen and trim had to be repaired. After a part of the gutter was covered with ice guard, it rained and water leaked into the house in a rear hall & stairwell and a 1st for reading room. The rain caused the blistering of plaster & the bubbling paint. Both the plaster & painting had to be re-done. When the owner of the company came to the house, he tried to re-seal the joints of the ice guard, insisting it wasn't supposed to leak. It may have been more appropriate to place a protective cover over the work area to stop the water from continuing to enter the house. (Which was intiated by others and Mr. Kempf joined in to help) Once the gutters were in, Mr. Kempf requested payment. Before, being paid, he was reminded that the copper was to extend up the slope. Mr. Kempf agreed and soldered flat copper up roof approx. 1ft. After that was completed, Mr. Kempf asked to be paid. Mr. Kempf was paid with deductions for the repairs made to the house. After the 1st winter, leaks were discovered in the custom gutters and along parts of the seam between the gutter and the flat copper on the slope of the roof. The water from the leaks appeared in a doorway header e just below failed solder joint in the gutter. Mr. Kempf did not respond to calls for help to this problem. We called another person seeking help. The second contractor's help didn't completely solve the problem. After the 2008/2009 winter more seams failed and more places showed signs of water penetration. Again Mr. Kempf was called and he responded by saying he would respond---- but he never showed up. As of this date 6/10/2009, we have removed all of the copper gutters, re-framed,sheathed, re-ice-guarded and reshingled our roof. We are now awaiting our new fascia mounted gutter system.

Last winter, an ice dam caused water to leak into my house through a wall and window casing. I learned that I needed roof work to prevent it from happening again. I obtained two estimates. Extreme Slate's estimate was $1000 cheaper than the other company's, for much more work and a 10 year labor/15 year material warrantee. The other company gave me a 0-3 year warrantee, for different parts of the work. Another detail was also important to me: the other company's estimator walked into my house with his muddy shoes, so I had to clean the floor after he left. When Jeno (of Extreme Slate) entered my home, he immediately removed his shoes without being asked. Once they started the job, I have never seen people work so hard. The workers were extremely nice, polite, helpful and responsive. They often arrived at 8:45am and left at 8:30pm. They were self-sufficient, never asked anything of me, and did not require my being home. To reach a part of the roof, they had to move a wood/wire outdoor cat enclosure which is attached to the house and deck. They did so easily and put it back perfectly. On the last day of the work, Karoly (the other owner) stopped by and climbed up to the roof to make sure all was done correctly. The company will check the slates on my roof yearly (free of charge). WOW!

They did an excellent job. They came out and repaired our slate roofing. They came out and completely redid two sides of my home where the wood was rotting and they saved us a lot of grief late. They worked very hard the entire time. They did excellent work. For the amount of work that they did the price was great. They seemed to start a little bit late to me, but when they came they worked very hard.

I thought that this company was very good at their work. I thought they worked efficiently and did very well. They also treated me very well and with respect.

Couldn't be more pleased with the work. This is not an inexpensive job but Extreme Slate's price was fair and in keeping with other estimates. Jeno was prompt in making the appointment for the estimate and starting the project. He explained the scope of the work to his employees and they did a thorough and professional job while keeping the job site clean. Most days they worked from 8 AM until 7 PM or later and they worked the day through, didn't take lunch breaks, only stopped to get a cold drink (and boy, was it hot outside)!

The team was punctual, careful with their work and very thorough in the repairs. The attention to detail was great, and we got photos of all the repair work at the end of the job. The workers were careful to clean at the end of every long day, and the results look excellent.

The work was performed in a timely fashion during a winter month. Very satisfied with the work that was done. Tiles that were replaced did not match the existing color, Jeno said that they would come back out and replace tiles with the correct color.

They were very reliable, were high quality, very responsible, and quickly attended to problems.
