COUNTRY-SIDE BOARDING KENNELS

When we picked them up the dogs were filthy and were much less animated than usual. When we got them home and began to bathe them we were horrified to find open and infected sores on virtually all the pressure points of their bodies. This could only result from lack of proper bedding and total lack of care. One dog had lost 9.5 lbs, the other lost 5.6 lbs. in the 10 days. They both had a large amount of swelling in their legs- they were in enough pain that they had not been active enough to circulate fluids out of their extremities. We immediately took them to our vet, who began treatment with steroids, pain medications, and antibiotics, as well as tending to the wounds, some of which required stitches. Greyhound skin is very thin and difficult to heal. It took over 2 months of intensive care for the dogs to recover, which included  stitches,surgery, and laser treatments. When we contacted Countryside with photographs, letters from the veterinarian, bills, and receipts, they would not even respond, and have not refunded their boarding fees or paid for any of the costs incurred. This is neglect at best. The dogs will carry scars from this for the rest of their lives.
