Worked with the owner Gary and his hardwood floor subcontractor Matt. Both were extremely friendly and professional. Pricing was fair for the job. Matt was extremely helpful in selecting and customizing the color of the finish. They were a bit over optimistic in their time estimate - it was a very large job and Matt works alone so it took about 3 times as long as the estimate. Matt did a great job and the end product was as good as we could have ever expected. There were several issues along the way - which, on a job this large, is expected. Gary and Matt worked with us to address the issues to our satisfaction, and that is all we could ask. Matt did work weekends to make up for the time slippage. Having done other projects with other contractors, I would say the fact it took 3x as long to complete in terms of days is about par with other jobs > 5 day duration. All contractors we've worked with seem to take about 2-3 times as long as they say they will. (said 1.5 weeks and it took about 4 for main job and 6 total to finish up re-work issues). What I will say about the process is there was an unwillingness or inability to set milestone dates and specific task durations. For example, sanding will take X days, Staining Y, woodwork Z, etc... So, without those task level durations it was impossible to track progress against the overall expected end date. So, for professionalism and end product they get rave reviews. Just make sure if the job is longer than a couple of days, make sure you have a good amount of flexibility in the job duration going 2-3 times longer. Again, we would hire them again - quality and professionalism were great and duration overrun was consistent with experience with other contractors.
