 + -1 moreI got the results from the appraisal in an e-mail from the Huntington Bank, Columbus, OH. The appraised value was only $160,000. The property had been appraised for $220,000 by Benjamin P. Parker, 333 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio, on November 16, 2004. That value was prior to my acquisition of .3 acres of land, a pole barn and 48 cubic yards of concrete for the barn floor and attached pad. Due to that poor appraised value, I had to pay an additional $600 to the loan principal in order to get the loan at an interest rate of 4.49%. I hope that my review prevents a similar experience. .
Description of Work: The appraiser, Charlie Jones, did not examine the residence with the close scrutiny that I have experienced with prior appraisals. He quickly went from room to room without really noticing the improvements that I had provided. (In the past, the appraiser looked under the kitchen sink to check the condition of the disposal.) He, Charlie, looked at the detached buildings, took a few pictures and moved on. He seemed as if he was in a hurry to finish. I was a little concerned, and I thought that the appraised value would be lower than before, but not $60,000 lower.
