He is fast, professional, and reasonable. Highly recommended.
Tom and two associates arrived early on the designated day. Tom gave the two associates an overview of the work to be done, along with suggestions and a walk through. The young men got right to work with the kitchen projects which were our first priority. I am very picky and reminded Tom that I wanted clean cuts and drill holes. We had a laugh about who was the most "anal" and perfectionistic -- me or the guys. Everything went well, and my husband and I are pleased with the outcome. My range now fits tight against the wall and the microwave looks good. (Since cabinets on one side of the microwave had been shimmed out away from the wall, the installation was a little tricky.) After everything was completed, we did a walk through to identify other projects and solutions to some electrical and plastering issues. Everything took about 6 hours.
Although Tom left for a while, he was back and forth about 3 to 4 times to check the progress and inspect the job. We have used Jarus several times in the past, and he is always out first choice in electrical work. We always get quality work, incredible knowledge, and reasonable solutions to sometimes difficult problems.
Late in 2013, one of the outlets that he updated does not work anymore. I called 3 times between Dec. 2013 thru mid-Jan. 2014. I received no response at all. If I would have been contacted and there would have been a charge for repair to be done, I would have considered it. However, since I tried contacting Jarus 3 times and explained the issue on their voicemail, I would not recommend using Jarus as initially they might do a wonderful job, but in the long run when there is an issue, they can't even return a phone call. That tells me that they do not stand behind their work or their customers or want to deal with an issue down the line (even if it's over a year later).
Because of this issue and the lack of returning phone calls (even to let me know that they do not service my area anymore or refer another electrician), I would rate Jarus as a D.
"We may be contacted through email, voicemail and text. Really don't know what more we could have available. Since we never received any messages from you via voicemail, you could have tried another method. We also find it curious that you are leaving a negative report now when you were very obviously pleased with our work when it was done in 2011, and now it is approximately 6 months from the time you say you attempted to contact us."
work in Bay Village. He and an assistant Zach arrived in a couple of hours and assessed our needs. My husband spent a fair
amount of time talking to Tom about future work -- we have multiple projects down the line! However, while he went to look
for a more appropriate fixture, Zach changed out the outlet in kitchen and even changed a bulb which he noticed was out in
one of the bedrooms. When Tom returned, they completed the installation and, again, talked to us about some other
issues in the house.
Tom had done work for us a couple of years ago resulting from a tree coming down and taking out the main line to the house.
His work is top notch! He is very knowledgeable and careful. No hack jobs with him. My husband and I are very picky, and
he always lives up to our expectations. His associates conduct themselves accordingly. When he and his associate Mike
did the storm work, the final outcome received compliments even from the lineman who did the final inspection. We appreciate
contractors who take pride in their work.
Once we were ready to have the work completed, which was almost a month later, my call was handled promptly and scheduled for the next day! Tom and Zach came to my house on-time. Again, they were very nice and able to answer all my questions. They updated me on the status of the work. I was very happy with the services performed, I thought the price was very reasonable, I would use Jarus again and recommend them to anyone.
Tom was on time (which was great since I was timing up my drive from columbus with the appt. time). We went over my problems and he examine my breaker box and then traced all the runs leading from the bathroom to a junction box and located the problem. This was a little more challenging because my basement is a mix of knob and tube and splicing. While in the basement I asked him about the process of cleaning up the knob and tube with romex runs. He walked me through the process and gave me a quote.
Right before he left he asked if there was anything else I had any questions on. I remember that the three-way switch upstairs wasn't working properly. He said that he could take a look at it right then. He opened up the switch plates and was able to figure out where the mistakes were made with the wiring. All-in-all it was a great experience. I hired him to come out to fix one problem and he took care of two.
I plan on hiring him again after the holiday to clean up my the knob and tube wiring in my basement. Thanks Tom.
"This person called me during the day and asked me what my hourly rate is. I responded that it is $60/hr. He then had me come out at 8 p.m. to fix a small problem. I don't work at 8 p.m. for the same hourly rate that I work during the day. I don't know any contractors who would come out at 8 p.m. for an hour and charge $60. At that time I explained that I was booking 4 weeks out, and that I do my scheduling over the weekend. I told him that I would call him when I had a an opening and we could get the job scheduled. I never told him that I would contact him the following week to schedule his work."
the brickwork on the house, and we were very concerned about how the repairs would look. My husband is a retired architect and
I am equally "picky." Tom was very sensitive to our priorities and offered to paint the pvc encasement for the wiring a dark brown
to better match the house. The outcome was a functional and, also, attractive job. We are very pleased!
Tom has been back to do a couple of smaller jobs with similar quality. We have an older home which needs a fair amount of
electrical work to be done. I would not call anyone other than Tom. He and Mike will make it work and look beautiful, too.
