Vance and his team did a fantastic job of working with my mother's ideas and the end result was exactly as she had envisioned. 
Upon approval of the estimate, it was approximately 2 weeks later that work began, altogether the work was completed in 8 or so days.  They cleaned up at the end of every work day, were respectful of my mother's home, and her presence while they worked.
It was an excellent and satisfying experience.  Mom is busy planning her next project for Vance!

Fast and looks good! There are some minor small gaps in the corners, but we just need to finish up filling in the holes and caulking it. Vance's workers only installed. We did the painting ourselves to save on cost.

First of all, the finished product is extremely beautiful & I have received many complements on it, both on it's appearance and the obviously skilled workmanship involved.  Vance was absolutely integral in providing advice about what should and could be done with the kitchen, with his extensive knowledge of new available products and cabinetry.  He has a great eye for what will look nice and what will not.  He and his crew were meticulous about their work and cleaning up every afternoon after their work was completed for the day.    I felt the price was very reasonable for the amount of work they did and the time involved.  Our initial contract did not include new flooring (and is not included in the price above); Vance had noticed that there were hardwood floors under the existing flooring, and we agreed to tear up the old flooring (which was not in good shape) in hopes of being able to use the hardwood floors.  Unfortunately, there were large holes in the wood flooring at the kitchen entrances, so new flooring was necessary.  Vance adjusted his schedule so that I could pick out new flooring (tile was selected) and he could locate a flooring installer who could do the work within a reasonable time, plus he installed a new base floor himself.  In short, Vance and his crew "rolled with the punches" in working with an old kitchen and doing whatever was needed to be done to make it all work out beautifully.  The only gripe that I had was that the project took longer than I thought it would or should, but, again, I need to take into account the obstacles that Vance and his crew faced in working with an old house, and adding flooring to the project midway through it.  Vance had other jobs going on concurrently with mine, and I believe that he did the best he could to accommodate everyone.  In short, my kitchen makes me smile when I walk into it and I have Vance Barta and his crew to thank for that!

The end result was excellent.  Vance does very good work.  Our biggest concern was the amount of time it took to complete the job.  This was a small job, but it took several trips and several months to complete the work.  Vance was very apologetic about the amount of time involved and he did keep in contact with us during the process.  He also built  a new surround and mantle for our living room fireplace approximately two  years ago, which also turned out well.

Overall I'm very satisfied with the work performed by Vance and his team. I get the impression that Vance has a lot of balls in the air and so sometimes communication and logistics can be a small issue, but the quality of the work is excellent and so I have no qualms about recommending them. 
Vance had a guy named Kenny that did most of the work at the house. He spent 3 partial days working on the various projects we had going on. On the first day, he installed the crown molding through the family room, kitchen and dining areas. It went pretty quick which made me wonder if I had overpaid but ultimately it went quickly because these guys know what they're doing. Had I tried to do this on my own (which I was considering for a time), it would have taken weeks (probably) and would not have looked nearly as good. 
The second day of work, Kenny installed the transom window above the french doors in the office and added trim to a large window wall in our family room. The window wall went without a hitch but when Kenny removed the trim from the french doors, he realized that there was very little support for the doors from when the original builders put it in. Kenny had to re-square the doors and add support for them. They actually work better now than they did and the transom window (which Vance had pre-fabricated) looks great. 
They did such a good job that I asked Vance to come back and add trim to the foyer area which they were able to do a few days later. 
Like I said earlier in the review, communication and logistics (getting everything planned and reminding Vance exactly what it is you want to do) can sometimes be a little tiresome but ultimately they do excellent work and you can tell they take pride in what they're doing. They cleaned up everything really well after they left as well which was very welcome.

We purchased a big deal for $500 of crown molding installation. Vance was quick to respond after the purchase and came out promptly so we could select our molding. It took about 6 weeks before we could get on Vance's schedule. There were a couple hang ups in the process - the wrong size molding was delivered (not by Vance's fault), but then Vance also did have to reschedule the installation once due to unforeseen circumstances. He does high quality work and is able to complete the work quickly, but getting on his schedule does prove to be difficult.

Vance was completely professional from start to finish.  He came out a couple of times to gather detailed measurements and spent a generous amount of time going over our options and helped us make good choices.  He was very helpful in explaining things we didn't understand. When Vance started the work, he was careful about keeping the house clean and was very considerate of our home and our daily schedule.
The work itself was of the highest quality and craftsmanship.  We had several challenging aspects to the work due to issues with the house.  Vance carefully found solutions for all of them.  When the work was done, Vance and his assistant spent several hours cleaning up the workspace.
He is a very nice man and a pleasure to work with.
We are extremely happy with the work and plan to use Vance again when we remodel our bathroom.

Fantastic work!  Vance installed custom wainscot panels, window trim, and a bench seat in front of our bay window. The crew showed up early and on time every morning and were beyond expectations in terms of keeping the house and work space clean during their work hours. I would love to recommend Vance to anyone looking for custom woodworking.

Vance's work is beautiful, very high quality and we are very happy with how the projects turned out.  We expanded our study by 2 feet by removing the closet and replacing it with shelving.  The workmanship is top notch, the color perfectly matches the wood trim in the room and nice touches with a dimmer on the can lights and self, quiet closing cabinet doors was appreciated.
Vance is very busy - he is in demand so be prepared that the project might take longer than other cabinet builders but he is worth the wait.

Not only is Vance a craftsman he is an all around nice guy. Very professional. Clean and efficient.

Vance was contacted via Angie's List in July 2014. He came to our home and the three of us batted around a lot of ideas and looked at a lot of samples. Obviously, we decided to have Vance perform the work. Vance's costs were somewhat on the higher side compared to other estimates. In the midst of the work, Vance was open to suggestions and offered many ideas. Vance was easy to speak with . He was not pretentious or boastful as some others had been. Vance did arrive when he said he would. Both his staff and he were polite. They cleaned up after each time they were at our home. Vance purchased the crown and base molding, we purchased the casing and door jams. Painting was not included (we are still in search of a painter)! Our family had some unusual circumstances occur, which in turn, made production stop abruptly prior to completion. Vance was understanding and waited on us. Overall, it was a good experience and we recommend Vance. We would like to do a few more projects with Vance although we still need to work on costs.

Vance and his partner installed crown molding in my living room and little hallway. Also added trim to an existing kitchen banquette. He was very patient with my crown style selection (they all start to look alike - but I love the 512 style I ultimately picked) and took a lot of time discussing the project. They came out on a Saturday morning and knocked it out in about 5 hours - it is beautiful. I had called one of his references and he had good things to say, as a reported perfectionist, his reference indicated everything was solid and corners were tight. Vance said when they were done that 'it wasn't going anywhere' and thats the truth - it's straight, with clean lines and looks perfect. I love it and plan to do more rooms in the future. They cleaned up everything afterwards and couldn't have been nicer.

Very pleased!  The cabinets arrived with crown molding to install which was more than I wanted to tackle.  After a great experience on another job, I asked Vance to cut and install the crown for the cabinets.  The tricky parts were doors needed to be lowered and the crown had a rope trim already inlaid. Vance and his partner did a great job adjusting the doors and matching the rope at the corners.  They were in and out in a couple hours with nothing to clean up.  Plus, they worked me in on short notice.

We remodeled our Foyer and adjoining ½ bath of our house and after discussing the project with several contractors we decided to work with Vance Barta of Vance?s Custom Interior Trim and Cabinets.  The project included rebuilding and
redesigning the stairs (treads, risers and newel posts), all new trim work throughout the foyer and bath and a custom vanity for the ½ bath.  Vance was excellent throughout the project including helping to design the new woodwork including trim and wood
selections.  Vance was patient with us in the design and estimating process. 
Once we decided to go forward, Vance and his partner, Chad, went to work as true craftsmen that really care about their client?s home.  Their work far exceeded our expectations in terms of quality.  The new stairs are absolutely solid with intricate details showing Vance?s expertise with wood work.  The trim work is both well designed and finished with Vance?s attention to the fine details that really make a difference.  The vanity in the ½ bath was a late add-on with Vance custom designing the piece. The finished cabinet is a great piece of furniture with the best fitting doors and drawers of all the furniture we have in our house.   
Vance did a lot of small things that really made it a pleasure to work with him.  One such example is that we had a metal cold air return vent that didn?t match well with the new trim.  Vance and his partner custom built a wood air return vent in about 30 minutes that blended in perfectly with the new trim.   Vance ensured that our house was cleaned at the end of every day and always kept us up to date on the progress of the job.  The job was finished on time and on budget.  Vance also recommended several other contractors for jobs in our house (flooring and painting) that turned out to complement the quality of Vance?s work.  We highly recommend Vance?s Custom Interior Trim and Cabinetry for any work you might be considering.

I called Vance to schedule a time to meet with him and show him the room.  He was very friendly and nice and had some great ideas of how to accomplish my wishes.  He even sat with me while we looked up on the computer examples of wainscoting and bead-board and different presentations.  I work full time and sometimes long hours (as does Vance) and I especially appreciated his willingness to find a time that would work for both of us!  He actually worked all weekend to make it happen.  He and his assistant worked diligently together.  It was nice to hear them talk with each other.  Very respectful and working in tight quarters!  The end result was even better than I has imagined - it looks fantastic :)  I also appreciated that they carefully cleaned everything up when they left each evening.  I am certain we will have Vance help us again in the future..... as a matter of fact, that kitchen could use some crown molding!

They were very good. I called them back to do more work. I used the big deal I purchased and they did the work in middle of July. I needed more work done than what the deal was for. They did a number of cuts in a certain amount of board feet. They added charges because the total work was more than what the deal was for. They were prompt. The finished work was excellent. The install was very good. Yes, I would recommend them because of good quality and promptness.

This was the latest of several custom projects that Vance has completed for us in the last 10 years under the rubric of his former company, Vance and Lightner.  On this occasion he custom built and installed two large cherry vanities (each with a sink and granite counter top) and added crown moulding to the bathroom. He also reconfigured some of the cabinetry in the laundry room to accommodate a new ice machine. He installed new granite countertops, sink and faucet there as well.  The largest project was to build and install a wet bar in the family room.  This job included building and installing cherry cabinetry for the bar and for an entertainment center, installing a sink, faucet, lighting and granite countertop, and installing several appliances (see above).
As previously, we were very pleased with Vance's work.  He is meticulous and provides excellent oversight of the sub-contractors with whom he works for specialized services such as plumbing and electricity.  He is professional and very responsive.  The quality of the work is outstanding, and we believe it to be well worth the slightly higher cost than other contractors.
